Fox Sports Arizona:
Trevor Bauer is headed back to the minor leagues for additional seasoning -- and hopefully improved control.
The Diamondbacks announced Wednesday that they have optioned Bauer to Triple-A Reno and recalled right-handed reliever Jonathan Albaladejo.
Bauer, Arizona's highly touted first-round draft pick in 2011, has struggled with his control in four starts since being recalled from Reno in late June. He has a 1-2 record with a 6.06 ERA after suffering a 4-0 loss in Cincinnati on Tuesday night. In three innings of work, Bauer walked five, threw two wild pitches, made an errant pickoff throw and gave up all four of Cincinnati's runs.
Albaladejo, 29, ranks second in the Pacific Coast League with 17 saves and is 3-1 with a 3.35 ERA. He has 39 strikeouts in 35 relief appearances with the Aces in 2012. He's made two appearances for the D-backs this year, giving up two earned runs in two innings.
He has previous major league experience with the Nationals and Yankees, posting a 6-3 record with a 4.28 ERA over 75.2 innings.

Trevor Bauer’s first tour of duty in the big leagues is officially over as the Arizona Diamondbacks shipped the 21-year-old right-hander back to Triple-A Reno on Wednesday. The move came a day after the worst of Bauer’s four starts in the majors.
On Tuesday night he lasted only three innings in a 4-0 loss to the Cincinnati Reds. He walked five, threw two wild pitches, had an...
The Arizona Diamondbacks returned right-handerTrevor Bauer to Class AAA Reno on Wednesday to refine his game, a day after the least effective of his four major league starts. Bauer never seemed to find a rhythm in a 4-0 loss to Cincinnati on Tuesday, walking five, throwing two wild pitches and making an errant pickoff throw. The Reds got only one hit off him, Ryan Ludwick'...
Following Trevor Bauer‘s Tuesday start against Cincinnati — three innings, five walks, one hit (a home run) and three earned runs — the Diamondbacks returned their top prospect to the minor leagues. In four starts with Arizona this season, Bauer lasted just 16.1 innings. He struck out 17 but walked 13 and allowed two home runs. The result is an ERA of 6.06, a FIP of 5.15, and...
Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Trevor Bauer blew opponents away with superior stuff in his half-season in the minor leagues this year despite walking a batter every other inning. Bauer has not been able to get away with less than top command in his four starts in the major leagues, a point Cincinnati drove home behind right-hander Johnny Cueto in a 4-0 victory over the D-backs...
You expect a catcher to the brunt of home plate collision, but that isn’t the case when the catcher is Arizona Diamondbacks prospect Stryker Trahan. The former state champion high school football player annihilated Joseph DeCarlo when he tried to score in this Rookie League game. Something tells me he isn’t moving shortstop.
I’m pretty sure I’ve never seen this before.
18 year-old catching phenom Stryker Trahan, who was selected 26th by the Arizona Diamondbacks in last month’s draft, laid out some poor baserunner.
BAMF is not only an adjective in this video, its also the sound made when the baserunner hit the ground gasping for air.
Here are the latest rumors on Justin Upton, with any updates throughout the day added at the bottom.
**Last night, Buster Olney had the following tweet about how the Pirates match up with Arizona.
It still appears the Pirates and the Diamondbacks don’t match up on a Justin Upton trade. PIT has pitching, but Ariz. priority is SS help.

CINCINNATI (AP) -- Jason Kubel returned from a sore hamstring and homered in his first two at-bats on Wednesday night, powering the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 7-1 victory that dropped the Cincinnati Reds back into a first-place tie in the NL Central.
Kubel was out of the lineup for four games because of the hamstring. He hit a two-run shot in the first inning and a solo homer in...
CINCINNATI (AP) -- Bryan Shaw and the Diamondbacks were just about to end a rough road trip on a positive note.
Then they gave up a six-run lead, and just like that, they were headed back to Arizona having lost five out of seven following a 7-6 loss in Cincinnati on Thursday.
Starter Joe Saunders pitched six innings and turned in a quality start, allowing three runs and four hits...
The Diamondbacks could trade Justin Upton today if they wanted. Their inaction has nothing to do with lack of interest from the market. It's the return that's lacking.
The D-backs have said they would need to be bowled over: A deal that includes a top-of-the-rotation starter and an elite shortstop or third baseman, all of whom are controllable for at least as long as the...
It’s still unclear whether the Diamondbacks will trade right fielder Justin Upton. But shortstop Stephen Drew appears to be generating enough attention to get moved.
The Pirates, Red Sox and Tigers are among the teams interested in Drew, according to major-league sources.
The Pirates’ .515 OPS at short is the worst in the majors. The Red Sox likely would use Drew as a backup...
So far the morning trade rumors today surround Justin Upton. Not much is new in the talks, although Jon Morosi of FOX Sports takes a detailed look at the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Morosi says that the Pirates have remained in contact with Arizona. He notes that Neal Huntington has refused to part with Starling Marte or Jameson Taillon, although the former is counter to what we heard Sunday...
