Some news is popping up today now that is Monday. Hey I guess even MLB front offices take the weekends off during their offseason. There are a bunch of great articles today, including three from the âwhere are they nowâ category. Also I generally donât like putting multiple articles from the same website up, but today I am making an exception to that rule as I have two from MLB Trade Rumors as well as two from this very site. The Padres have their name linked to another player this week, which means that by Wednesday they will have dropped out of the running. And also once again another team is going after a player that the Padres have looked at for some time. You snooze you lose? All that information can be found below, so letâs get to it:

Adrian Gonzalez â âI bleed Dodger blueâ
Even while in San Diego, it always seemed like Adrian Gonzalez would not be happy. Small market, big park, no national love. One of the greatest hitters in Padres history always seemed as though he was just playing his days out in San Diego. Loved by the fan base and the Mexican community, a combination of his desire to pursue...
Here we are with another quiet day on the Padres side of things. The biggest news in San Diego right now is that Mike McCoy is going to be the new head coach for the Chargers. This is coming a matter of weeks after the season ended for the Chargers. What have the Padres done in the matter of months after the season ended? Yeah thatâs what I thought. My frustration isnât coming...
This is the first in a 10-part series where I will identify the top three players at each position in the Padresâ minor league system. Up first: Catchers.
The depth chart at catcher is certainly an area that presents an opportunity for improvement. The gap between the haves and the have nots for this position is fairly substantial. There are two to three guys who have the potential...

The Texas Rangers, Pittsburgh Pirates and San Diego Padres are among the teams pursuing free-agent starter Shaun Marcum, according to major-league sources.
Marcum went 7-4 with a 3.70 ERA in 21 starts for Milwaukee during an injury-shortened 2012 season. But he finished healthy, making three consecutive quality starts to end the year.
The Rangers have made no secret of their need...
Earlier this evening, Jon Morosi reported that the Pittsburgh Pirates were still talking with Francisco Liriano. Morosi followed up with a tweet noting that the Pirates were one of the teams interested in free agent Shaun Marcum.

Now that it appears the Liriano deal may be on hold the Pirates are rumored to be interested in Shaun Marcum. What annoys me most is the logic behind these moves. Â Liriano was signed basically at the expense of Jeff Karstens. Â The reason Karstens wasnât signed was because he was an injury risk. Â Well so [...]
In general, the arc of winter for a Pirate fan goes like this:Â

Talking yourself into the coming season's team as the front office makes trades and signings.
