Hello all! Here we are at a brand new week, and it is a week that I hope can turn into something eventful for the Padres. If I were to take an educated guess as to what the Padres are doing, I would say that you will have a new face in a Padre uniform by the end of the week, I hope anyway. I want to step aside for a second and apologize yet again for not having a Daily Friar for you all yesterday, but it is that time of the year where family is coming first and things need to get done. I will try and post daily as much as I can, but sometimes it doesn’t happen. I can tell you all right now that there will be no post on Christmas, unless for some reason there is some huge breaking news. Alright back to baseball. As not a lot of sites are posting a ton of Padre information, I will also integrate some of MLB’s biggest stories into this article as well so that you all can see what is going on around baseball. So let’s get right to it then, here are your links for today:

MLBTR is keeping track of all the Edwin Jackson talks of late
“The Padres are trying to sign Jackson to a multiyear deal, but talks are “just chatter” now, Scott Miller of CBSSports.com reports (on Twitter).”
Brandon Cline of The Friarhood makes the case for Jackson
“Edwin Jackson throws strikes. His K/9 was 7.59 and more importantly his BB/9 was 2.69 in 2012 and it is improving! He won’t clog the basepaths with free passes and still has a pretty decent strikeout ratio.”
A lot of Padre fans want Kyle Lohse; Fangraphs analyzes him and asks, “Is he a fluke?”
“But that was with the Cardinals, a team notorious for turning mediocre veterans into useful cogs. And with Lohse likely leaving for another team this offseason, it’s unclear whether he’ll be able to sustain the magic.”
R.A. Dickey was traded to the Blue Jays and has agreed to an extension – MLB.com
“The Mets reached agreement Sunday on a trade of Dickey, and he and the Jays quickly negotiated a two-year, $25 million contract extension that will keep Dickey in Toronto through his age-40 season.”
Red Sox have filled a hole at shortstop – MLB.com
“The Red Sox agreed to a one-year deal with shortstop Stephen Drew worth $9.5 million on Monday, a Major League source confirmed to MLB.com.”

The Padres, the Diamondbacks, and Loving Your Children
I don't have to tell you why I'm writing this. You already know. You've been hit with the sorrow and confusion and the anger just as much as I have. You've been left to wonder where we go from here.
