PLAYERS: Anthony Bass
TEAMS: San Diego Padres
And the bid for the Padres to win three games in a row was stolen from them. One play at first base changed the outcome of this game, and I think that it is sad really. Anthony Bass pitched a heck of a game and deserved a better outcome then what he got. If you can pitch 8 innings of complete game ball you should be able to pull out the win. The offense, defense and the umpires made sure that didn't happen though. Well enough on my thoughts, let's get to other people's musings on the game. Here are your Padres links for today:Submit articles and follow me on twitter Follow @M_RennickBass' bid for history ends in imperfect defeat -"But not every pitch was met with success, though Bass' night started well as he retired the first 17 hitters that he faced before the Giants got to him for two runs in the seventh inning, on their way to a 2-1 victory before a sold-out crowd of 42,375 at AT&T Park."O'Malley has bloodlines to be owner Padres...

Tekotte gets the call

Outfielder Blake Tekotte joined the San Diego Padres yesterday, his third stint with the team since last season. The Padres sent OF Jeremy Hermida to the 15-day DL with a groin injury as the corresponding move. So, what will Tekotte’s role be? Most likely, the Padres see him as a straight replacement for Hermida. He’ll see action every few days, getting 1-2 starts per week. He...

A To Do List For Incoming Ownership

Now that it seems to be just a matter of time before John Moores sells the Padres (again), here’s a checklist of things the incoming owners, whoever they may be, should consider before they walk in the door at Petco Park. These are just my suggestions but if the new owner(s) want to get off to a good start with the fans here in San Diego they might want to take this list seriously...

Padres place Hermida on DL

The San Diego Padres placed outfielder Jeremy Hermida on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with a strained left adductor and recalled outfielder Blake Tekotte from Triple-A Tucson. The DL move is retroactive to April 27. Hermida, 28, is hitting .250 (6-for-24) in 13 games this season. Tekotte, a third-round pick in 2008, made his major-league debut last year and appeared in 11 games.

Madfriars' Farm Report: April 29

Tim Stauffer made his first rehab appearance as he works the rust off in Elsinore. Nate Freiman continues to mash and now has more homers than either the TinCaps or Storm roster. Yasmani Grandal homers again in Tucson while a few big names are starting to get things going at the plate.

Daily Friar 4.28.12

The Padres have another winning streak going for them! For just the second time this season the Padres have a two game winning streak. They will try to make it three today, but they are going to have to do it against Tim Lincecum. This isn't the same Tim Lincecum that has won Cy Young awards. He has been having a down year so far. Either way it is still Tim Lincecum. So be sure...

Madfriars' Farm Report: April 27

Yasmani Grandal hit a homer in his first plate appearance in three weeks to help set the tone for Tucson. Juan Oramas continues to struggle, digging a hole so deep even Nate Freiman can't climb out. Matt Jackson was dealing in Elsinore, while the TinCaps didn't give John much to watch.

Daily Friar 4.30.12

Winning game one of a three game series usually puts that team in a good position to take the series. Win game one, and then you have two more opportunities to win one more game to lock up the series. The Padres won game one against the Giants, had game two stolen from them, then came into game three knowing what they had to do. Game three didn't happen though. The offense was...

Friars Fail To Capture First Series Win in San Francisco

The Padres came into AT&T Park looking for their first series win while trying to establish a winning streak with a three game series against the Giants. After an impressive win on Friday, the Padres dropped the next two against their bay area rival. Saturday’s loss was especially difficult to swallow with a controversial call enabled the Giants to rake the lead late in the...

Friarhood - Taking a Swing at Cancer Together

Dear Friarhood and Friends, Steve approached me recently about an idea to round up and unite the Friarhood in an effort to start a fundraising campaign for Stand Up To Cancer (you may remember that in the last couple of years the Padres have been actively involved in this effort ). Despite my initial thoughts of “I’m simply to busy for this,” well, I have a hard time saying...

Brewers-Padres Preview

San Diego Padres hitters haven't given much support to their improved pitching staff and rookie right-hander Joe Wieland has especially had trouble getting help from his teammates. Wieland will try again for his first major league victory when the Padres open a three-game series against the visiting Milwaukee Brewers on Monday night. San Diego has posted a 2.56 ERA over the...

O'Malley Family Looking to Buy Padres

John Moores, who recently inherited control of the Friars following Jeff Moorad's failed bid to purchase the club, is evidently not wasting any time moving forward with a second attempt to transfer ownership. Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reported this morning that Peter O'Malley, the former owner of the L.A. Dodgers and who recently failed in his bid to buy back his old club...

Giants 2, Padres 1

Tim Lincecum pitched eight sharp innings in his longest start of the season and had an infield single with two outs in the sixth for the Giants' first baserunner against Anthony Bass as San Francisco beat the San Diego Padres 2-1 Saturday night. Brandon Belt hit a two-run double off Bass with two outs in the seventh for San Francisco. Lincecum (2-2) overcame some early control...
