Daisuke Matsuzaka may still be dealing with some post elbow surgery problems, but that's not keeping the veteran from making quality starts each time out in the minors. Matsuzaka returned to the mound on Wednesday night, less than a week since having his rehab clock turned back, throwing 5 1/3 innings at Pawtucket and only allowing two hits and a run in what turned out to be a strong outing. Matsuzaka has now had two very solid starts for the PawSox and is looking as ready as ever for a shot back at the major leagues. Check out highlights from...

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.
Daniel Nava arrived on May 10 in time for the Red Sox [team stats] to fall to 12-19. They’re 15-6 since, good for the second-best record in baseball.
“I’m absolutely amazed,” said...
Lars Anderson is one of those legendary minor league sluggers that will probably never get a job as a full-time major league player. But even so, occasionally such legendary power does something that just makes your jaw drop. Take for example, this prodigious blast that hit his own picture on the scoreboard and broke it. After every series, we'll take stock of how each individual and group performance affects their overall value.
Ryan Sweeney: Ryan started the series off strong in game 1, then fell back down to where he started. He continues to impress, it is only a little more sporadic than a month ago.
Daniel Nava: He complied a bunch of 1-hitters, and the 1 hit in the second game...
Figuring out how to get Kevin Youkilis and Will Middlebrooks in the lineup together can be a headache at times, but they showed why it's worth it on Wednesday night. David Ortiz, Youk and Middlebrooks all homered and the Red Sox rallied against the Tigers to win 6-4 and take their third straight over Detroit. NESN Nation's Dan Duquette is in a basketball mood, so he's...

BOSTON –– Even in losses, Jarrod Saltalamacchia continues to impress. By belting a solo shot to deep center in Thursday's 7-3 loss against the Tigers, the Red Sox catcher tallied his 10th shot of the year, signaling the second highest total on the team behind David Ortiz's 12 long balls. Saltalamacchia's home runs haven't been close calls, either. Just like in...
Before taking batting practice this afternoon, Boston Red Sox DH David Ortiz took a few minutes of his time to talk with Kevin Millar and Chris Rose on Intentional Talk.
I will only say this. This was one of the funniest interviews I've ever seen. Enjoy!

Rumors swirled about Kevin Youkilis' future in Boston on Friday but while the unsubstantiated suggestions continue to roll in the third baseman will get a much-needed day off. Will Middlebrooks gets the start in his place at the hot corner, hitting sixth in the lineup. The hot-hitting Jarrod Saltalamacchia got a noticeable bump in the lineup as well on Friday, as Salty will hit...

They have six outfielders currently on the disabled list; Ryan Kalish, Carl Crawford, Jason Repko, Jacoby Ellsbury, Cody Ross and Darnell McDonald. Ryan Sweeney was on the seven day concussion DL until a few days ago. The Red Sox have had to [...]
