Atlanta Braves second baseman Dan Uggla had his hit streak snapped at 33 games today when the Braves lost to the Chicago Cubs. Uggla's hitting streak was a surprise to all because he was hitting only .173 on July 5th, the lowest among any National League every day player. During the hit streak, Uggla hit .377 and brought his overall average up to .231.

Although this hit streak was so rare, I think the way it ended was really the most intriguing part. He went 0-3 today with a sacrifice fly, but it was his blooper to shallow right field that caught my eyes. If this isn't the worst way to end a hit streak then I don't know what is. This snag by Darwin Barney will definitely be #1 on Web Gems, not to mention it was a snow cone. I wonder what people will think if Uggla starts a 24 game hitting streak now.
