It looks like Dan Uggla may be back in the Braves lineup Wednesday when the Braves take on the Indians in the second of a three game set. “We’ll check with him this evening, but I think he’ll be here tomorrow,” Gonzalez said after Tuesday night’s 2-0 win against the Indians. “He got seven at-bats the last two days. His timing is getting better and better, so hopefully we can get him to come up here and do what he can do.” He’s scheduled to come off the DL today. Gonzalez said he would give Uggla the option of one more game at Triple-A affiliate Gwinnett if he needed more at-bats. After his rehab assignment Tuesday, Uggla told reporters he was “100% ready to get back to Atlanta.” Uggla went 2-4 Tuesday night in Gwinnett with a homer and a single. In his two rehab games he went 2-7 with four strikeouts. Maybe his eyes are still adjusting. Although his timing did look better Tuesday night in his second game back. Uggla hit a career-worst .186 midway through August and led the NL in strikeouts (146) although he was second on the team in home runs (21) and walks (62) to Justin Upton. It was then the Braves and Uggla made the decision to go ahead with the Lasik surgery. He had planned on waiting until the off-season  but after continued difficulty picking up the ball at the plate and in the field Uggla had the surgery on August 16th. The Braves are looking to cut down on strikeouts heading into the playoffs. B.J. Upton, Justin Upton and Uggla are in the top ten in the NL in whiffs. Not good, especially for a team seeking its first title since ’95.  Hopefully, with improved vision and relief from the astigmatism that has plagued him since signing a fat contract with Atlanta, Source: Harry How/Getty Images Uggla can make better contact, have more efficient at-bats and reduce the K’s. After going on the disable list Uggla was replaced by Paul Janish, Tyler Pastornicky, rookie Phil Gosselin and the recently acquired Elliot Johnson. Pastornicky tore his ACL in a collision with Jason Heyward on August 14th. A tough break for a kid trying to break into the majors full time. It looks like utility outfielder Todd Cunningham will be sent down upon Uggla’s return. He could be called back up once rosters are expanded in September. Hopefully increased vision will help Uggla at the plate. A surging Danny Biceps would exponentially increase Atlanta’s chances of making a deep October run.
