The Pittsburgh Pirates have optioned pitcher Daniel McCutchen to Triple-A Indianapolis to make room for reliever Chad Qualls.
The Pirates announced the move Wednesday.
Pittsburgh is the third team this season for Qualls, who began the year with Philadelphia and was acquired in a trade with the New York Yankees on Tuesday. He is 2-1 with a 4.89 ERA this season.
McCutchen, who was...

In order to balance out the roster with a correct amount of hitters and pitchers following last night’s Travis Snider trade, the Pirates announced they have designated Drew Sutton for...
Well…this certainly came out of nowhere. Just after midnight on MLB’s deadline day, the Pirates sent Brad Lincoln to the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for outfielder Travis Snider.
“Who the heck is Travis Snider??” you ask? He’s a 24-year old outfielder that his hit for an OK .247/.305/.429 line in just over 900 PA’s over parts of five seasons. Yes, parts of five seasons...
The Pittsburgh Pirates have acquired outfielder Travis Snider from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for right-hander Brad Lincoln.
The 24-year-old Snider was Toronto’s first round selection in the 2006 First Year Player Draft and made his Major League debut with the Blue Jays in 2008.
The left-handed hitter entered tonight’s action with a.235 average, three homers and eight...
The Pittsburgh Pirates have been looking to add a power bat to their lineup, and they did so with a trade early Tuesday morning. However, the player the Pirates traded for had never been mentioned in the multitude of rumors surrounding the club in recent weeks. The Pirates acquired outfielder Travis Snider from Toronto for right-handed reliever Brad Lincoln. Snider is expected...
Last week, I mentioned that the Blue Jays had a very interesting trade chip in Travis Snider. Late tonight, Toronto cashed in that trade chip, sending Snider to Pittsburgh for Brad Lincoln.
On the surface, this doesn't seem like very good value for Snider. Lincoln's "just a reliever", but a good one, He's been a crucial part of Pittsburgh's bullpen...
Red Sox foe Travis Snider is heading to the National League, where he won't be facing Boston quite as often. Snider is headed to Pittsburgh for a pennant race with the Pirates, who are looking to add some offense in support of superstar Andrew McCutcheon. In exchange, Toronto will receive 27-year-old pitcher Brad Lincoln. Lincoln is 4-2 with a 2.73 ERA out of the bullpen this...
After swapping Brad Lincoln for Travis Snider last night, I'm guessing that Neal Huntington has fired most of his major trade deadline bullets. There was some thought amongst Pirate fans (not any actual rumors connected to this, just speculation after the Snider trade) last night that Huntington may now flip Starling Marte in a bigger deal since he has another young outfielder...
The Pirates acquired outfielder Travis Snider from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for right-hander Brad Lincoln early Tuesday morning in advance of the 4 p.m. non-waiver trade deadline.

The Toronto Blue Jays traded fan-favourite Travis Snider to the Pittsburgh Pirates on July 30 halfway through their 4-1 loss in Seattle against the Mariners. The Blue Jays received right-handed relief pitcher Brad Lincoln in return for the left fielder. Shortly after Snider was sent packing, general manager Alex Anthopoulos then traded Eric...
Neither trade was a blockbuster, but the Toronto Blue Jays made two deals Monday to bolster their pitching depth, an area that has been depleted by injuries this season. The cost was a couple of left-handed-hitting outfielders who have spent most of this season in the minors after receiving multiple chances to stick in the majors. Travis Snider, just back from Class AAA Las Vegas...
The Toronto Blue Jays couldn't make a big splash before the trade deadline. The best they could do was cause a couple of ripples when they traded outfielders Travis Snider and Eric Thames for relief pitchers Brad Lincoln and Steve Delabar. Back on July 20, they made a 10-player deal that brought them reliever Brandon Lyon and starter/reliever J.A. Happ from the Houston Astros...
