White Sox pitcher John Danks has had left shoulder surgery, and Chicago says he should be ready for the start of spring training. Danks' arm is expected to be in a sling for a month after doctors at Chicago's Rush University Medical Center repaired a capsule tear Monday and removed debris in the rotator cuff and biceps. The White Sox say the surgery revealed a normal labrum and he will be on a regular schedule when camp starts. Danks, a left-hander, was 3-4 with a 5.70 ERA in nine starts and hasn't pitched in the majors since May 19. He is in the first season of a $65 million, five-year contract.

Chicago White Sox: Beckham comes through with clutch homer

It seems like everyday there is a different member of the Chicago White Sox that is responsible for the win. In the past few days, it has been A.J. Pierzynski with his five straight home runs, but tonight the hero was Gordon Beckham. With his first home run since June 20th, Beckham put the Sox up 3-2 over the Kansas City Royals in the bottom of the eighth. He has been experiencing...

White Sox switch back to five-man rotation, bump Humber to 'pen

Pitching for the first time after a nine-day rest, Chicago White Sox left-hander Chris Sale put all the talk about his decreasing velocity and his "dead arm" period behind him, looking like the pitcher who earned All-Star status because of a dominant first half. Sale threw eight innings in getting the win against the Kansas City Royals, allowing two runs on eight hits...

Konerko, Beckham homer, Sale and White Sox beat KC

CHICAGO (AP) -- Paul Konerko and Gordon Beckham homered late, Chris Sale pitched eight solid innings and the Chicago White Sox beat the Kansas City Royals 4-2 on Monday night. Konerko tied it leading off the seventh and Beckham gave the White Sox a 3-2 lead with a solo shot in the eighth off Luis Mendoza. Kevin Youkilis added an RBI double in the inning, and the White Sox won for...

White Sox's Youkilis, De Aza sit out

The Chicago White Sox watched their lead in the AL Central slip to just a half-game, losing to the Kansas City Royals 5-2 on Tuesday, and doing so a bit short-handed. The suddenly red-hot Detroit Tigers edged the New York Yankees 6-5 to keep the pressure on the division race. The Sox were missing two key players from their lineup. Third baseman Kevin Youkilis was a late scratch...

Pinch-hitter A.J. Pierzynski tied a White Sox record by homering in his fifth consecutive game, a go-ahead, two-run drive in the seventh inning off Jason Isringhausen that led Chicago over the Los Angeles Angels 4-2 Sunday. With the Angels ahead 2-1, Isringhausen (3-2) relieved Dan Haren and allowed a leadoff single to Dayan Viciedo. Pierzynski hit for Tyler Flowers and hit a drive...

Angels' protest of 8-6 loss at White Sox denied

Major League Baseball has denied the Los Angeles Angels' protest of their 8-6, 10-inning loss at the Chicago White Sox on Friday night. The decision by MLB executive vice president Joe Torre was announced Monday. Chicago's Paul Konerko grounded to third with the bases loaded and no outs in the first inning. After getting an out at home, catcher Chris Iannetta fired wide...

A Tale Of Two Lefties

I went to the Chicago White Sox game last night, and received a text message from infographic artist extraordinaire Nick Tavares, who was at a bar watching the Boston Red Sox play the Texas Rangers.  The text message read, "I get rage twinge whenever I see Andrew Miller warming up." I countered with, "Me too, though I'm at the Cell watching Chris Sale pitch...
