Major League Baseball announced Thursday afternoon that Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish and Cardinals third baseman David Freese won the Final Vote campaign and have been added to the team for Tuesday's All-Star Game at Kauffman Stadium.
The Rangers' Japanese sensation Darvish beat out fellow pitchers Jake Peavy (White Sox), Jason Hammel (Orioles), Jonathan Broxton (Royals) and reliever Ernesto Frieri (Angels).
Freese, last year's World Series MVP, held off Nationals rookie Bryce Harper, Braves outfielder Michael Bourn and Diamondbacks 2B Aaron Hill.
Fans were able to vote at MLB.com, through text message and on Twitter.
Darvish, a five-time All-Star in Japan, signed a six-year contract worth $56 million with Texas in the offseason. In 16 starts this season, he is 10-5 with a 3.59 ERA.
Freese enters Thursday night's game against the Colorado Rockies hitting .285 with 13 home runs and 50 RBI.
