ARLINGTON, Texas Plenty of Texas Rangers fans may have been puzzled why Texas starter Yu Darvish was pulled in the sixth inning of Sunday's game after throwing just 84 pitches. Darvish, who didn't factor in the decision in Texas' 6-2 win over the Los Angeles Angels, answered the question after the game. He's just not as handsome as lefty reliever Neal Cotts, who replaced Darvish. At least that's what Darvish said manager Ron Washington said during his mound visit to replace him. "When Wash came out to the mound, what he told me was, 'You shouldn't be getting more air time, so I have to pull you out,'" Darvish said through his interpreter after the game. "And Cotts is better looking, so he pulled me out." When Darvish exited the game, the television cameras showed him mouthing something. While he didn't want to leave the biggest game of the year, he said his comments had nothing to do with that. "I said 'I'm better looking that you, Cotts,'" Darvish said. "That's what I shouted." While Darvish had a sense of humor after the game, he made everyone nervous during the game. Washington and the team's medical staff paid a visit to him during the second inning. Darvish said he didn't know why they came out there because he was physically fine.
