Dave Roberts has cancer

Every Sox fan knows who Dave Roberts is. ABC News and ESPN are reporting today that Roberts has Hodgkin's lymphoma. Hodgkin's lymphoma is a type of cancer originating from white blood cells. He was diagnosed in March, it was detected early, and his prognosis is good. Roberts arrived in Boston in 2004 and although his stay with the Red Sox was short, he will always be remembered for "The Steal of the Century." He was traded to the San Diego Padres to play center field in exchange for Jay Payton. Ironically, he was bumped from center field to left field when the Padres acquired Mike Cameron. Roberts played for the Padres in 2005 and 2006, and the San Francisco Giants in 2007 and 2008. He retired after the 2008 season and worked for NESN in 2009.
