Despite the Red Sox’ success this season up until the All-Star break, the first-place club hasn’t shown a ton of power in the lineup outside of David Ortiz. It will be quite the opposite for Ortiz on Tuesday night in the All-Star Game, though. The Boston designated hitter was voted into the All-Star Game in New York at Citi Field as the American League’s starting designated hitter. Ortiz will be right in the middle of a star-studded lineup, as manager Jim Leyland has penciled Oritz in as the No. 6 hitter for the visiting AL squad. Ortiz will be surrounded by plenty of talent, some sluggers he’s fairly familiar with as well, with six of the AL starters hailing from the American League East. Mets phenom Matt Harvey will take the ball as the National League starting pitcher, while Detroit’s Max Scherzer gets the start for the AL. See both lineups below.
