PLAYERS: David Wright
TEAMS: New York Mets
This afternoon, David Wright has been using the team’s Twitter account to answer questions from fans: Brian Erni: It’s been a struggle for Wright in his three years at Citi Field and, when taking into account his mechanics and the old dimensions, it’s not hard to see why. David’s power to the right-centerfield gap distinguishes him, and we all but saw that vanish in a 415-foot power alley. With that section of the ballpark coming in to 398 feet, I think Wright will let the ball get deeper in his swing path and try to shoot that gap on a more consistent basis. Michael Baron: In regards to Wright leaving at some point, there is a lot of chatter both here and on Twitter that the Mets should look to deal Wright. But I think with some extra protection around him, fewer on and off-the-field distractions, the new dimensions at Citi Field, and a little bit more luck, he can revert to the form from prior years and certainly be better than than what he put on display in 2011. Rather than ex...

Just what if David Wright and Jason Bay rebound in 2012?

With alterations already under way to reconfigure the fences at Citi Field, the Mets are undergoing a facelift with the hopes that it could jump-start a flailing offense. At the crux of the fence alterations is what it could mean to both David Wright and Jason Bay. Wright and Bay have seen their home run production arguably corrupted by the intimidating confines of Citi Field....

Wright offers Mets more than mere statistics

As the offseason has unfolded and the free agency of shortstop Jose Reyes has loomed, the thought of the Mets trading third baseman David Wright has been considered by some a matter of when, not if. Here's a crazy thought: What about keeping him?

Lucas Duda, David Wright and Ike Davis model the Mets “new” uniforms for 2012. They need a winning model. A source has told ESPN’s Adam Rubin that Daniel Murphy is available. In conversations with other teams at the GM Meetings in Milwaukee this week, a source confirmed the Mets informed other teams that Daniel Murphy is “available.” This goes against an earlier report that said the front office sees Murphy as the starting second baseman if they cannot retain Jose Reyes. But...

It was quite the day at Citi Field today as the organization announced plans for the celebration of its 50th Anniversary.  I was fortunate to have been invited to the festivities of the day and as I left Citi Field I felt invigorated about being a Mets fan. I’ve all but given up trying to explain to non-Mets fans why it is I love this team so much. It’s like looking at one...
