Chris Davis homered twice to raise his major league-leading total to 30, and the Baltimore Orioles beat the Yankees 11-3 Saturday night to extend New York's losing streak to four games.
Davis hit a three-run drive in the first inning and added a two-run shot in the sixth, his third multihomer game of the season. The five RBIs gave him 79, second-most in the big leagues and just six short of his career high.
Ryan Flaherty also homered for the Orioles, who built a 9-0 lead in the third against David Phelps (5-5). Baltimore will seek to complete a three-game sweep on Sunday.
Zach Britton (2-2) limited the offensively challenged, injury-riddled Yankees to one earned run over 5 2-3 innings.
BEST OF MAXIM
Here’s guessing that “@MichiganMagic1″ is a Yankees fan — or was at least witness to what Orioles first baseman Chris Davis did to the Yankees over the weekend.
Davis is having a pretty incredible season, having belted 31 home runs (two shy of his single-season high) through just 82 games. After amassing barely that many bombs at any other point in his career (he totaled...
The Baltimore Orioles have to be pretty happy. Last season's 93-win season was not a fluke. They just completed a three-game sweep of the New York Yankees. They are just 2.5 games out of first in the AL East and right in the thick of the wild card race.
There are many factors that play in to the team's success, one of them being the historic tear that first baseman Chris...

Chris Davis just keeps slugging. On Saturday the Orioles first basemen hit two home runs against the New York Yankees leading the team to a 11-3 victory.
Davis now has 30 home runs and 79 RBI on the season.
With just a modest July the 27-year-old Davis will top his previous career highs set last season.
At 46-36 the Orioles are 2.5...
After my post-game interview with Orioles first baseman Chris Davis on Saturday night, someone in FOX's production truck asked me a question that I usually don't get asked about players:
"Is he always that modest?"
Davis, 27, had just hit his 29th and 30th home runs in the Orioles' 11-3 victory over the Yankees. But if you watch my pre-game and post-game interviews...
Chris Davis is having a season for the ages.
A friend texted me the other day, “Do I think Chris Davis is on PEDs?”
I can definitely understand the cynicism that he had, but I quipped, “Probably not”
“Nothing surprises me, but I would I be – if that was the case with Davis.”
During the offseason, I was worried how the Orioles would do offensively without...
Chris Davis has set a Baltimore Orioles record by hitting his 31st home run before the All-Star break.
Davis connected in the second inning against Yankees right-hander Hiroki Kuroda on Sunday night. It was the slugger's third home run in two games.
The previous franchise record for home runs before the All-Star break was 30, by Brady Anderson in 1996. That season, Anderson...

Anytime the New York Yankees make the short trip down I-95 to visit Camden Yards, home of the Baltimore Orioles, it usually means an intense and important series is about to begin.
This weekend will be no different.
The three-game series beginning Friday will be the third between the two teams this season, the second in Baltimore...
Back in what we've now come to regard as the Steroid Era, 30 homers before the All-Star break had become no big thing. But in the post-Mitchell Report, drug-tested world of Major League Baseball, it's once again eye-opening.
Orioles first baseman Chris Davis socked two home runs against the Yankees on Saturday, giving him 30 before June is even out. His total ties Albert...

The best thing about this baseball season so far has to be the emergence of Baltimore Orioles first baseman, Chris Davis, who was the first player in the majors to hit 30 home runs. Davis, who was a journeyman for the first three years in Texas, got an opportunity to play everyday when he was traded to Baltimore back in 2011, for reliever Koji Uehara...
The Baltimore Orioles used their most potent weapon -- the long ball -- to complete a satisfying sweep of the New York Yankees.
Chris Davis set a franchise record by hitting his 31st home run before the All-Star break, and Manny Machado and Nate McLouth also connected in a 4-2 victory Sunday night.
The Orioles increased their major-league leading home run total to 115 with three...
Chris Davis set a franchise record by hitting his 31st home run before the All-Star break, and the Baltimore Orioles beat the skidding New York Yankees 4-2 Sunday night for a three-game sweep.
Manny Machado and Nate McLouth also homered for the Orioles, who increased their major-league leading total to 115. Davis has six more home runs than anyone else in the big leagues after hitting...
In the past I’ve written on a handful of occasions about how sometimes I like to just get lost playing with Barry Bonds‘ statistics. It’s not that I didn’t appreciate Bonds’ performances at the time — it’s that I think it can take years to appreciate what he did fully. One could make it his life’s pursuit to arrive at a true understanding and appreciation of Bonds’...
BALTIMORE (AP) -- Chris Davis drove in the tiebreaking run on a fielder's choice grounder in a wild five-run fifth inning, and the Baltimore Orioles rallied for a 7-3 victory over the Cleveland Indians on Thursday night.
The Orioles used six hits and two errors to erase a 3-2 deficit in the fifth, salvaging a split in the four-game series. The inning also included the ejection...
It was quite a night for the Orioles on Sunday, as they got national exposure for the second night in a row – this time on ESPN – and more importantly, defeated the New York Yankees, 4-2.
Instead of the bigger market teams getting the spotlight on ESPN’s marquee game, the nation once again got reacquainted with Oriole Park at Camden Yards – and the Baltimore Orioles....
