There's been quite a bit of complaining over the way Scioscia has been handle the lineup the past weekend, and with good reason too. Who wouldn't be a little frustrated with the way the lineup has been managed thus far? He's burying the teams hottest hitters in the bottom of the lineup, he's thrust his veterans into the middle of the order when they've been having consistent trouble in RBI situations, maybe not Torii Hunter nearly as much as Vernon Wells, but Hunter is having his fair share of struggles. Oh, and we can't forget two moves that have been giving us the most trouble thus far, giving some of the younger guys too much bench time and keeping Aybar locked in at leadoff.  I'm just gonna go ahead and talk about Trumbo right off the bat since that's one of the Angels fan's biggest gripes over the lineup. I briefly went over the situation in Tuesday night's game, but keeping Trumbo out of the lineup at the beginning of the season is the...

Angels' Trumbo still seeking comfort at third

ANAHEIM, Calif. In the quiet of the Angels clubhouse Tuesday afternoon, Mark Trumbo tried his best to explain a confounding situation. It made sense, and yet it didn't. Two days after hitting his second home run of the season and lifting his batting average to .375, Trumbo sat for a second consecutive game. His bat might be worthy of a spot in the starting lineup, but his...

Aybar signs extension with Angels

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- The agreement between the Angels and shortstop Erick Aybar on a contract extension can only be viewed in positive terms, both for the club and the player. By signing Aybar for four years and 35 million after earlier locking up second baseman Howie Kendrick long term, the team has now secured its middle infielders through the 2016 season. But shelling out big contracts...

Trumbo not angered by lack of playing time

It has become one of the questions surrounding the Angels as they've stumbled to a 4-7 start: Why isn't Mark Trumbo playing more? The young slugger led the team with 29 home runs and 87 RBI last season and finished second in the American League Rookie of the Year voting. However, he was displaced from first base by the signing of Albert Pujols. The plan was to get Trumbo...

What should Erick Aybar get in a contract extension?

If recent reports are to be believed, it is only a matter of time before the Angels lock up Erick Aybar to a lucrative contract extension.  Nothing is official yet, but reports are circling around a contract somewhere in the neighborhood of five years and $50 million for Aybar.  That seems to be what Aybar is asking for, anyway.  But is that what he should get? We could debate...

Angels Extend Erick Aybar

Forgoing free agency is the new hotness. After already locking up his double play partner Howie Kendrick back in January, the Angels gave Erick Aybar a reported four year, $35 million contract extension today. Aybar is under contract for 2012 at just over $5 million, so this represents a pretty nice raise in annual average value, and assuming that the contract covers 2013-2016...

Is Alberto Callaspo now trade bait?

With news of Erick Aybar signing a contract extension coming out this week, it should increase the odds that Alberto Callaspo is traded for relief help.  The fact that Aybar will definitely be around next year would seem to make Maicer Izturis expendable but I’m thinking Jerry Dipoto knows Arte Moreno did not spend the big bucks this off-season to use an unproven back-up at shortstop...

Game Recap 4/16/12 -- Happy Happy Joy Joy - Angels 6 Athletics 0

Well who would have guessed it, the Angels actually have a middle of the order, what a surprise. The day off did Kendrys wonders apparently, 3-4 with a HR and 4 RBI's makes you wonder if he's finally coming back around. I know one game is too soon to throw around claims that Kendrys is finally back to true Kendrys form again, but if he can keep raking throughout this home...
