The Colorado Rockies have been the worst defensive team in the National League all season. But they were absolutely awful Sunday while getting swept in a doubleheader by the Phillies by scores of 3-2 and 7-4. Rookie catcher Wilin Rosario was charged with four passed balls in Game 1, two of them coming in the ninth inning when the Phillies scored and made losing pitcher Matt Belisle's line look worse than it was. In Game 2, the Rockies made a season-high five errors, one short of the franchise record. Rosario leads the majors with 19 passed balls, four more than Josh Thole of the Mets, who is the primary catcher for knuckleballer R.A. Dickey. The modern-day major-league record for passed balls is six and is shared by Rube Vickers of the Reds on Oct. 4, 1902; Geno Petralli of the Rangers on Aug. 30, 1987; and Jerry Goff of the Astros on May 12, 1996. Rosario was charged with a passed ball in the third and the eighth before his two in the ninth. Belisle began that inning w...

Colorado Rockies rookie catcher Wilin Rosario wasn't supposed to play Monday. He was scheduled to get a night off after a difficult defensive weekend at Philadelphia that included a brutal Sunday, when he was charged with four passed balls. Rosario was going to get a chance to rest, regroup and get away from the action. Instead, he ended up pinch-running in the fourth inning...
***For my regular audience (all three of you), I took a few days off from Rockies Review as I traveled to Minneapolis with friends to check out Target Field over the weekend. I always strive to cover every single game, and have come close to that in the four years that this blog has been in existence, but without the time or ability to watch the games live, or after the fact, I felt...
Last week, I had the opportunity to do a behind the scenes tour of Coors Field, in Denver. Actually, anyone can do the tour if you buy a ticket. I bought a $7 ticket and I took a look at the stadium that is one mile above sea level.
Coors Field is located in downtown Denver, near Interstate 25. There is also a light rail station nearby so accessibility is provided for people...

The Phils come from behind before winning in the ninth on a walk-off single by pinch hitter Nate Schierholtz, as they defeat the Rockies, 3-2.
The Rockies took the lead in the first as, with one man on, and with one man out, Carlos Gonzalez hits an RBI double, scoring Josh Rutledge, who had earlier singled, giving the Rockies a 1-0 lead. The Rockies then made it a 2-0 lead as Wilin Rosario...
Rockies pitcher Alex White homered and Colorado finally solved a struggling Ryan Vogelsong, beating the San Francisco Giants 6-5 Monday night to snap a five-game losing streak.
Buster Posey and Hunter Pence went deep for the Giants, who lost for only the second time in 10 road games. San Francisco's lead in the NL West was trimmed to five games over the idle Los Angeles Dodgers...

The Colorado Rockies haven't had much go according to plan this season. One pleasant surprise this year has been the play of rookie catcher Wilin Rosario, who most thought would spell free agent acquisition Ramon Hernandez a few times a week while acclimating himself to the Majors.
