A solid start from Jarrod Parker became a no-decision as the A’s dropped Saturday’s contest with the Kansas City Royals 4-3 – primarily due to an ill-timed error by shortstop Adam Rosales in the eighth inning (more on that later).
Facing Royals starter Ervin Santana, the A’s turned a walk to Josh Donaldson and back-to-back singles from Seth Smith and Josh Reddick into a run in the second. The rally fizzled, though, after Smith was retired at the plate on an Adam Rosales fielder’s choice and Eric Sogard grounded to second to end the inning with the A’s up 1-0.
Reddick’s RBI single set a new career milestone for the outfielder:
