Found April 27, 2012 on It's Always Sunny in Detroit:
PLAYERS: Brandon Inge
TEAMS: Detroit Tigers

Photo of Tigers LF Delmon YoungTigers left fielder (and I use the term fielder loosely) Delmon Young was arrested early Friday morning in New York City according to the NYPost.

He allegedly assaulted a man outside a Midtown hotel. The Tigers are in New York to play the Yankees in a three game series that starts tonight. According to the The Post:

Cops were called to the hotel around 2:40 a.m. after Young, whose ballclub is in town to play the Yankees tonight, pushed the man to the ground, sources said.

Young was “highly intoxicated,” sources said, and had to be taken to the hospital to sober up before being moved to a police precinct.

The details other than those are sparse and we will update them as they become available. We’re unsure whether the release of Brandon Inge played a factor. Fine, we’re very sure that the release of Brandon Inge played absolutely no factor.

Wakiji: Inge goes out graciously

Detroit -- Detroit Tigers fans no longer have Brandon Inge to kick around anymore. The Tigers released Inge after Thursday's 5-4 loss to the Seattle Mariners, ending an era that started on April 3, 2001, when Inge made his major league debut at catcher on Opening Day. In fact, I had a weird flashback to that day, standing next to Inge's locker before he spoke. That first...

Keating: Inge done with Tigers

DETROIT -- Well, NOW what can we talk about? Sports-talk radio just got a little quieter. Twitter has fewer tweets. Brandon Inge has played his last game as a Tiger. Everybody happier now? Baseball is a big-boy business. Its a bottom-line game. Those who can play, play. Those who cant, get released. Everyone acknowledges that. Inge has not been able to hit consistently the...

Brandon Inge Released

Rosenberg says he had to go for all the right reasons. Even Inge knew it was coming.

Game 2012.18: Mariners at Tigers

Well, it’s not about Brandon Inge. So, what is it about? Is it about the lack of a mean streak? Is there a mean SOB in the minor league system who could replace the friendly Inge? Yes, there was another Bad Max sighting.  But the Tigers scored a relatively healthy 4 runs, with comforting contributions from the middle of the order.  Still, they were no match for the mild Mariners...

Inge done with Tigers

The Brandon Inge era is officially over in Detroit. The Tigers unconditionally released Inge after Thursday's 5-4 loss to Seattle. They will purchase Brad Eldred's contract from Triple-A Toledo on Friday.

Tigers release Inge

Brandon Inge's 12-year tenure as a member of the Detroit Tigers is over the team released him on Thursday. Brad Eldred was called up from Triple-A Toledo to take Inge's place on the roster. "Brandon Inge has done a tremendous job for this organization for a long time," team president/general manager Dave Dombrowski said. "I realize he had been, for some...

A Boy Becoming a Man, and the Woman that Helped Him Get There: Why Brandon Inge's Release Makes ...

When knews broke earlier this afternoon that Brandon Inge had been unconditionally released by the Tigers, I was much sadder than I expected. This wasn't the type of "end of an era" saddness that I felt when Steve Yzerman finally hung up his skates or Chauncey Billups was traded to the Denver Nuggets. This wasn't the bittersweet feeling that I expected, knowing...

Tigers release third baseman Brandon Inge

The Detroit Tigers have released veteran third baseman Brandon Inge according to Brian Britten (Tigers' Director of Media Relations). He adds that Brad Eldred's contract will be purchased from Toledo on Friday. The 34-years old third baseman is a career .234/.304/.387 hitter with 140 HR's, 589 RBI's and a 83 OPS+ in 4,626 Major League at bats. He played his entire...

Game 2012.20: Tigers at Yankees

10-9, tied for 1st place with Chi and Cle. Could it possibly be that the Tigers are only 19 games into the season, and they have already hit their low point? And that their low point is tied for 1st place? And that Brandon Inge is no longer a Tiger, at any level? Yes, probably, and yes. I think there’s a decent chance that the Tigers lose 6/7 again this year, but losing those...

Inge hardly Tigers' biggest problem

DETROIT -- In years past, the most hated athlete in Detroit tended to be one of two people: the Lions' quarterback or the Red Wings' goalie. These days, though, with those jobs comfortably held down by Matt Stafford and Jimmy Howard, fans have needed a new target for their wrath. Oddly, they've chosen the backup second baseman for the Tigers -- a position that generally...

Red-Hot Eldred Gets Call-Up From Tigers

The Tigers cut veteran Brandon Inge on Thursday, ending one of the more polarizing conversations in recent Detroit sports history. In his place will be Brad Eldred, the minor league veteran who has been tearing it up in Toledo. Will Eldred finally be able to find Major League success?
