While spring training isn’t the time to get up in arms over injuries or players recovering from them, New York Yankees living legend Derek Jeter has been scratched from today’s lineup because of stiffness in his left ankle.
Via USA Today:
New York manager Joe Girardi said that Jeter was flexing the ankle a lot during batting practice. Jeter eventually went to trainer Steve Donohue, who then told Girardi, who made the lineup change. Girardi is not sure what this means long term. Could be just a day. Could be a sign of things to come.
This doesn’t appear to be anything serious or long-term, and Girardi is taking precautions to keep Jeter’s ankle problem from becoming long-term.
