BEST OF MAXIM
The Tampa Bay Rays Rays suspended prospect Josh Sale on Wednesday for conduct detrimental to the organization.
Sale, an outfield prospect taken 17th overall in the 2010 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft, had just completed a 50-game suspension after testing positive for methamphetamine and an amphetamine.
His latest controversy stemmed from an offensive status update he made on...
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. For almost eight minutes, Kelly Johnson tried to explain the flurry of production, the reasons behind his breakout May, the answer to why he has become so dangerous at the plate in his new home. He is grounded, soft-spoken and somewhat reserved, so it was little surprise the Tampa Bay Rays Mr. Versatile turned the topic into a self-warning for the future.
MIAMI (AP) Roberto Hernandez bounced back from two rough outings and pitched 8 2-3 innings, leading the Tampa Bay Rays over Miami 3-1 Wednesday night and sending the Marlins to their season-worst eighth straight loss.
Kelly Johnson and Yunel Escobar each drove in a run as the Rays won their fourth in row. Tampa Ray has taken 12 of its last 13 against the Marlins and improved to...
BEEN A ROUGH SEASON
Marlins outfielder Marcell Ozuna officially hates the Rays outfield bullpen mounds more than anyone.
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. Kelly Johnsons recent outburst is no surprise to someone known for offensive displays of his own: Evan Longoria.
A day after Johnson, a Tampa Bay Rays infielderoutfielder, went 4 for 5 with two home runs and six RBI in a 10-6 victory over the Miami Marlins, the star third baseman praised his streaking teammate.
When asked if Johnsons numbers this season ...
The Tampa Bay Rays are a notoriously cheap franchise. But can’t they at least give enough money to their prospects so they can give the strippers dollar bills? Take for instance, 2010 draft pick Joshua Sale. Now, Sale hasn’t quite lived up to his billing at teh #17 overall prospect. In fact, his biggest moment so far was a 50-game suspension after testing positive for amphetamines...
The Tampa Bay Rays have suspended Josh Sale, their 2010 first-round pick, for conduct detrimental to the organization, the team announced Wednesday.
"Threw 50 cents at a stripper tonight. First time. Got kicked out and she got so (mad) thought she was gonna cry. Your a stripper. Be thankful," Sale posted.
He was suspended for not knowing the difference between...
Could be this be the next Josh Hamilton in the making?
But for now, the Rays have another case of a troubled young draft pick on their hands in the case of Josh Sale.
Yesterday BSO posted the story about how Sale bragged about tossing quarters at strippers. Well today, karma’s paying the 21-year-old a visit as the Rays have decided to suspend him indefinitely for behavior...

Your browser does not support iframes. This play epitomizes the current state of the Miami Marlins. It came in the bottom of the fifth inning in Miami's game at Tampa Bay Tuesday night as Marlins right right fielder Marcell Ozuna attempted to flag down a foul pop hit by Rays slugger Evan Longoria. His pursuit of the ball carries him all the way over near the mounds in the bullpen...
It’s bad enough being a member of MLB’s worst team, the Miami Marlins. But on Tuesday night at Tropicana Field against the Tampa Bay Rays, it got even worse for outfield Marcell Ozuna. Attempting to catch a foul ball off the bat of Evan Longoria, Ozuna went head first into the wall after he tripped and fell over the bullpen mound. Pretty dangerous situation and luckily Ozuna...
Kelly Johnson hit a pair of three-run homers Monday and the Tampa Bay Rays handed the Miami Marlins their sixth straight loss, 10-6.
Johnson also doubled, singled and stole a base. He matched his career highs for RBIs and hits during his eighth multihomer game, and first since May 30, 2011, against the Marlins while with Arizona.
Johnson, who 24 RBIs in 21 games this month, homered...
Poor Alan Porter. The home plate umpire for the Tampa Bay Rays-Miami Marlins game on Wednesday was nailed in the nuts when Evan Longoria fouled off a ball that bounced in the dirt and skipped into Porter’s crotch during the fourth inning. Between all the blown calls and foul balls to the groin, life isn’t [...]
