Miami Marlins right fielder Giancarlo Stanton has 26 home runs, tied for third in the National League with Arizona's Jason Kubel behind Ryan Braun (33) and Carlos Beltran (28). Stanton is on pace to finish with 34 home runs, which would match his career high, set last year in 150 games. But manager Ozzie Guillen said Stanton has a shot to win the National League home run title. Although he has played in only 93 games this year, he could finish the season with more home runs if he continues producing like he has since returning from the disabled list on Aug. 7. "This kid has missed half a year and he still has 20-something home runs. That's how talented he is. We need that," Guillen said. Stanton went into Tuesday's game with seven home runs in 48 at-bats this month -- an average of one home run nearly every seven at-bats. "This kid has chance to be a tremendous spectacular ballplayer because when this kid learns how to hit and how they are going...

Marlins manager ejected for 2nd time this season

Miami manager Ozzie Guillen was ejected after the top of the third inning of the Marlins' game against Arizona during an animated argument with first base umpire Angel Campos. It was only the second time this season Guillen has been tossed. Guillen's argument came after the Marlins' Donovan Salano was picked off trying to steal second. Television replays showed batter...

Showtime ends "The Franchise" a week early

When the Miami Marlins were announced as the subject of this season's edition of "The Franchise" on Showtime, expectations were high due to the Marlins' spending spree this offseason and the installation of the controversial Ozzie Guillen as manager. Unfortunately, the Marlins season spiraled out of control, the team had a fire sale in July, and they'...

Highly touted Turner to make MLB debut for Marlins

The Marlins will call up highly-regarded pitching prospect Jacob Turner to start one of Wednesday's double-header games. His performance will help dictate whether he spends the rest of the season with Miami or goes back to the minors. "We are still debating what way are going to go," manager Ozzie Guillen said. "I think we should keep him here to see if we can...

VIDEO: Giancarlo Stanton and Justin Ruggiano hit back to back bombs

We all know Giancarlo Stanton hits monster homers, right? Well Monday night in Phoenix, Stanton may have topped his previous moonshots in terms of sheer impressiveness with this shot that went into the third deck at Chase Field off of the always homer-prone Joe Saunders Really? Yeah, really. His teammate Justin Ruggiano followed that up with a monster shot of his own...

Sports Tweet of the Week: Logan Morrison Wants to Be Bad

I gotta say I kind of forgot about this guy.   It’s probably because he’s been injured since June.  Something tells me we would have heard way more from him.  But given he makes about 500K a year and is getting paid for sitting on his ass in rehab, there’s a good chance he does something really stupid on his birthday today. And please someone have the pictures of it for us!

Justin Ruggiano homered after Stanton, and Jose Reyes had four hits -- including three doubles -- scored twice and drove in a run. John Buck homered among his three hits and...

Marlins take on D-backs in doubleheader

It's almost fitting that the Arizona Diamondbacks will play the franchise's first doubleheader in Phoenix on a day severe thunderstorms are expected to hit the valley. The inclement weather, however, has nothing to do with the twinbill at the retractable-roof ballpark. The Diamondbacks are hopeful Wednesday's day-night doubleheader goes a bit better than their first...

Ozzie Guillen: I need the FBI or DEA to protect Giancarlo Stanton

There are very few pitchers in baseball who look forward to facing young Marlins star Giancarlo Stanton. The 22-year-old outfielder is hitting .292 this season with 22 homers and 66 RBI. Whenever an opponent gets the opportunity to pitch around him, they almost always cash in. This leads to some tricky lineup decisions for Ozzie Guillen, who has recently been criticized for not giving...

Offense Explodes in Arizona

Marlins go for another win against D-backs

The Arizona Diamondbacks are trying to keep in contention in the NL West. If Giancarlo Stanton hadn't spent a month on the disabled list, the Miami Marlins might be in better position than they are now in the East. The Diamondbacks will try to bounce back Tuesday night following an ugly loss to Stanton and the Marlins. Arizona returned home after completing a 4-2 road trip...

Ozzie Guillen Ready to Turn to FBI, DEA to Protect Giancarlo Stanton in Marlins Lineup

If you're a Major League Baseball pitcher, you might want to avoid pitching to Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton. Because if you do decide to pitch to the guy who's built like a brick outhouse, very bad things can happen to you. You know, things like this. Or this. And this. The decision to give Stanton anything in the strike zone becomes even more insane when you consider...
