PLAYERS: Ian Kinsler
TEAMS: Detroit Tigers
Yankees-cano-gets-high
Word is leaking out around the area that the Detroit Tigers are being paid an offseason visit by highly sought after free agent Robinson Cano. I have no certifiable confirmation of this, but the rumors are rampant. The 31-year old Cano has been a dominant offensive force for the New York Yankees throughout his 9-year big league career while playing a slick 2nd base along the way. But, didn’t the Tigers just trade for a 2nd baseman? Ian Kinsler has exclusively played 2nd base and as of now is penciled into that slot for the 2014 Tigers. If the Tigers get all crazy and offer Cano a deal, that means Kinsler might get shifted to 3rd base, pushing Miguel Cabrera back to 1st and leaving Nick Castellanos in left field, a position in which he will struggle defensively. And if they do go get Cano, then they won’t have any money remaining to spend on a power-hitting left fielder and it will compromise the bullpen remodeling project as well. Remember, on a prorated basis, the Prince Fielder tr...

There is no baseball thunderstorm quite like a Detroit Tigers one. As citizens across the state of Michigan settled into their couches and recliners for a night of relaxation, their foundation was rattled by yet another mega-trade, courtesy of GM Dave Dombrowski. When news of the Prince Fielder for Ian Kinsler trade landed, cell phones and Twitter feeds erupted, everyone clamoring...

The Detroit Tigers and the Texas Rangers have agreed to a deal that would send Prince Fielder to the Rangers for second baseman Ian Kinsler. Both players would have to pass physicals. Rangers Move Pieces Around; Outcome To Be Determined

The Rangers traded Ian Kinsler for Prince Fielder. You know this already. I’ve already written a post about this trade, in fact, detailing why I love this deal for the Tigers. If baseball trading were a zero sum game, this would mean that I hate this move for the Rangers, since a big win would have to be offset by a big loss on the other side. But baseball trades are not a...

The Rangers and Tigers pulled off the first blockbuster trade of the offseason on Wednesday, swapping second baseman Ian Kinsler for slugger Prince Fielder and a bundle of cash. 2010 ESPN Commercial Foreshadows The Ian Kinsler/ Prince Fielder Trade

Three years ago Ian Kinsler and Prince Fielder stared in a commercial with Derek from Stepbrothers. They ate tacos and talked fantasy style trading adding Tim Lincecum to the mix. Derek buts in, completely out of character and tells them he wouldn’t trade them for anything. Weird commercial, but it all makes sense now. ESPN controls sports.

Ian Kinsler and Prince Fielder talked fantasy trade on ESPN commercial

After being traded for each other in the biggest offseason trade so far this year, Detroit Tigers 2B Ian Kinsler and Texas Rangers 1B Prince Fielder (yeah, that reads weird) once talked trade with one another (and Adam Scott) on a Sunday Night Baseball commercial (circa 2010).  Check out the video (via YouTube ESPN): If Adam Scott didn’t make it weird, the Rangers and Tigers...

Tigers GM amid Robinson Cano rumors: 'We plan on having Ian Kinsler as our second baseman'

Rumors flew on Twitter that Robinson Cano, likely the highest-priced free agent on the market this offseason, was in Detroit on Friday. But it seems extremely improbable that the Detroit Tigers would seriously consider signing Cano to a massive long-term deal just days after getting out of a long-term deal with first baseman Prince Fielder, especially since they traded Fielder for...
