My oh my how things change. One month ago the Detroit Tigers were three games back of the Chicago White Sox for the lead in the American League Central. Tonight they stand proud as champions of the American League. It has been a long strange trip, but the one constant thing we can say is the Tigers are playing their best baseball when it counts most. There are plenty of things to be concerned about but for at least tonight we can put all that aside and back in the glory of the Tigers winning their 11th AL pennant.
Delmon Young who found a way to get a big hit virtually every time the Tigers needed one and also hit two home runs in this series is the 2012 ALCS MVP, and deservingly so. However, we could make a strong case for Relief Pitcher Phil Coke who not only earned three saves in this series, but two of said saves were two inning affairs.
