As we wrote yesterday, there was still a chance Didi Gregorius would land on the seven-day DL despite his CT scan coming back clean.  That's exactly what happened yesterday.  However, while losing Gregorius, the Diamondbacks got Jason Kubel back.  He was activated from the 15-day DL yesterday. According to the Diamondbacks' official Twitter feed, Gregorius was placed on the seven-day DL (a relatively new roster slot designed for concussions) as he was diagnosed with a minor concussion.  In the same report, it was confirmed that Jason Kubel was activated from the 15-day DL.  Kubel had been on the disabled list with a strained left quadriceps muscle.   Tyler Emerick of says Gregorius' injury forced the Diamondbacks to activate Kubel earlier than they would have wanted.  As the club needed to shuffle roster spots around, they decided it would be best to add Kubel back to the 25-man roster.  Kubel was slated to play in a Triple-A rehab game before being activated on Wednesday.  Moving Gregorius to the DL did not allow for that to happen.  Emerick also reports that Gregorius' DL stint was made retroactive to Saturday.  They could not wait to place him on the DL beyond yesterday if they wanted to make the move retroactive.   Zack Buchanan of the Tucson Citizen reminds us that Kirk Gibson did not want to rush Kubel back.  While Kubel had wanted to get back into live game action immediately, Gibson was concerned about the jump between at-bats in extended spring training games and Major League games.   Follow @mlbinjurynews Looking for fantasy baseball advice?

D-backs' Gregorius better but not cleared to play

PHOENIX -- Didi Gregorius was sore and had a tinge of a headache Saturday but otherwise appeared to have come out unscathed from his scary beaning Friday night. At the same time, he has not been cleared to play and was to see the Diamondbacks doctor again Saturday afternoon. Close to normal? he parroted a reporters question. From being hit in the head yesterday to today, I dont...

Arizona Diamondbacks Activate Outfielder Jason Kubel

The Arizona Diamondbacks activated outfielder Jason Kubel from the 15-day disabled list. Instead of playing a few rehab games in the minors, the Diamondbacks thought it would be best to get his bat into the lineup sooner-rather-than-later. Finding more power as he ages gracefully in baseball terms, Kubel had 30 home runs in 2012. The post Arizona Diamondbacks Activate Outfielder...

Tony Campana steals three bases during one at bat

Former Chicago Cub Tony Campana is one of the fastest men in baseball. After being acquired by the Diamondbacks this winter, Campana lost out on his bid to make the major league roster, and is currently playing with AAA Reno. On Saturday night, Campana did something pretty cool in the Aces' game against the Fresno Grizzlies: he stole all three bases in one inning. Furthermore...

Miley's bizarre feat: Four walks in first, no runs

PHOENIX -- Arizona fans were given a special treat Saturday when a Wade Miley garden gnome was distributed to those in attendance at for the Diamondbacks' game against the Rockies at Chase Field. For an inning, Miley must have felt the strike zone was about the size of the six-inch figurine, which showed Miley with camo overalls and a fishing pole in his right hand. Miley...

Clutch D-backs comfortable being uncomfortable

PHOENIX -- Their gray warmup T-shirts read Get comfortable being uncomfortable, and the Diamondbacks wear them well. Here they are, within a game of first place in the NL West after Cody Ross sacrifice fly drove in the winning run in a 3-2, 10-inning victory over the Rockies on Saturday, while overcoming a rash of injuries, an occasionally shaky bullpen and just one total victory...

Minor Leaguer Tony Campana steals second, third and home in same at-bat (VIDEO)

via Over the 2011 and ’12 seasons with the Chicago Cubs, speedy outfielder Tony Campana stole 54 bases in 59 attempts.  That may not seem like a lot, but considering that he only reached base 106 times through those two years, the ratio is crazy.  In other words, he stole a bag 51% of the time he got on base. Campana is now in the Diamondbacks system with Triple-A Reno...
