Arizona Diamondbacks right fielder Justin Upton was scratched from Monday's lineup against the Los Angeles Dodgers, a day after he was beaned in the head.
The All-Star slugger was taken out of the lineup following batting practice. The club said Upton, who also underwent an impact test, was removed for precautionary reasons.
Upton was hit on the brim of his helmet by San Francisco's Tim Lincecum on Sunday but remained in the game before later leaving after complaining of nausea.
Upton is batting .291 with 31 homers, 88 RBIs and 21 stolen bases for playoff-bound Arizona.
