D-backs' Upton feels like himself again

PHOENIX Justin Upton is starting to feel good again, which should send a shudder through the rest of the National League. Upton can carry a team, as he did the Diamondbacks for a three-month stretch of 2011, and he showed indications of returning to those good old days in a 9-5 victory over Philadelphia on Monday that was 9-0 entering the ninth inning. He had his first RBI of...

Is it time to free Trevor Bauer?

The phrase "Free Trevor Bauer" has been popularized by ESPN analyst Keith Law in recent week. Bauer, the third overall pick in last summer's draft out of UCLA, is widely thought of as a guy who could have started the season in the majors. The Diamondbacks took the conservative route with Bauer, and started him at AA Mobile. In 22 2/3 innings, Bauer has struck out 28...

Interview with Ryan LaPensee: Undrafted to Arizona Diamondacks prospect

In December I went to the Baseball Winter Meetings and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. It’s all baseball all the time; what more could any baseball fan ask for?  During my time at the meetings I met Nello Gamberdino a Lawyer from Chicago Illinois. He is also an aspiring sports agent who owns NPG Sports and represents over 17 professional minor league baseball...

D-backs send struggling Paterson to minors

PHOENIX -- In a minor bullpen shakeup Tuesday, the Diamondbacks recalled Mike Zagurski and Joe Martinez from Triple-A Reno. In corresponding moves, the team optioned Joe Paterson to Reno and designated Jonathan Albaladejo for assignment. The right-hander Albaladejo, recalled Saturday when starter Daniel Hudson went on the disabled list, made his lone appearance Monday night, tossing...

Daniel Hudson Latest D-back on the DL

The Arizona Diamondbacks have dealt with as many injuries this month as they did throughout all of last season. Top-of-the-rotation starter Daniel Hudson is the latest to suffer an injury, and the D-backs have decided to let swingman Wade Miley fill in rather than turn to one of their top prospects in the minors.

Trevor Bauer Named Pitcher of the Week

Arizona Diamondbacks top prospect Trevor Bauer has been named the Southern League Pitcher of the Week for the week ending on April 22. That is not enough to earn him a major league callup, however, even with Daniel Hudson heading to the disabled list.

Games & players lost on miserable homestand

PHOENIX -- It was in many was the homestand from hell. The Diamondbacks lost seven games and three players in the 10-game homestand that concluded with a 7-2 loss to dominant Philadelphia left-hander Cole Hamels on Wednesday afternoon. Hamels retired 18 straight batters after Willie Bloomquist opened the game with a double, and the D-backs could not overcome the Phillies' four...

Larry Andersen says APPEAL IT!
