On Friday, it was beginning to look like the Miami Marlins would lose another game to the New York Mets that they led late until Greg Dobbs brought home the game winning run in the bottom of the ninth.    The final score was 6-5 in a wild back and forth game that the Mets held a lead in until the final half inning.  In the previous three meetings with the Mets, the Marlins had blown leads in each game leading to a sweep.   With the win, Miami is now two games over .500 for the first time this season as they sit at 17-15.

Mark Buehrle went six and two third innings in the no decision in what was one of his weaker outings as a Marlins’ starter.  It was far from poor but the veteran did allow two runs on eight hits while also walking an additional two batters.   Still, Buehrle did leave with the lead intact only to see his win vanish on a Edward Mujica blown save.     Mujica worked a dismal eighth inning allowing three runs while only retiring one batter.  That effort by Mujica not only blew the lead for Miami but put them behind the Mets in the eighth.    Heath Bell worked a perfect ninth inning to keep the game where it was and also earn his first win of the season.  Bell has been put back into the closer role by manager Ozzie Guillen due to a strong outing in Houston on Wednesday after missing about a week.

Offensively it was a great day for the Marlins and it got started early as Jose Reyes led off the game with his third triple of the season.    Austin Kearns was a late replacement for Logan Morrison in left field and that change paid off as the veteran hit a two run home run in the first inning, his third of the year.  Morrison was replaced to get another right-handed bat in the lineup and would later pinch hit.   Omar Infante’s All-Star worthy season continued with a three hit game that included a double and three runs batted in.    Giancarlo Stanton also doubled, his coming to start off the ninth inning comeback.   Stanton would go on to score on an Emilio Bonifacio single that tied the game.    Dobbs who had entered via a double switch earlier in the game brought home Bonifacio for the game winner.

On Saturday the Marlins will look to win their third straight game as Ricky Nolasco takes on R.A. Dickey.
