Dodgers 2023 Infielder Signs MiLB Deal With NL Central Team in Free Agency

Former Dodgers infielder Yonny Hernandez has signed a minor league deal with the Milwaukee Brewers, MLB insider Robert Murray reported.

Hernandez got an invitation to spring training, and will look to earn a spot on the suddenly rebuilding Brewers' Opening Day roster.

Hernandez appeared in 14 games with the Dodgers in 2023, playing second base, third base and even making one pitching appearance — a scoreless inning in a blowout.

Hernandez got three hits in 22 at-bats, driving in four runs and striking out eight times.

Hernandez provided some much-needed depth when the Dodgers were struggling with injuries, and they appreciated the role he played on the 2023 squad.

Hopefully Hernandez is able to thrive in Milwaukee during spring training, and earn a spot on the Opening Day roster.

The best season of his young career came in 2021, when he hit .217 with 31 hits, six runs batted in, 17 walks and 11 stolen bases with the Texas Rangers. In 2022, he was with the Arizona Diamondbacks, before spending the 2023 season with LA.

Now he'll head to his fourth team in four years, hoping to earn a bigger role and stick around for the foreseeable future.
