Adrian Gonzalez and Hanley Ramirez hit back-to-back home runs in the ninth inning to give the Los Angeles Dodgers a 3-1 victory over the San Diego Padres on Sunday. Gonzalez broke a 1-all tie with a drive to right field off closer Huston Street, and Ramirez hit the next pitch to right-center to help Los Angeles split the four-game series. It was the second home run in two days for both players. Street (0-4) has given up 10 home runs in 26 1-3 innings this season. Last year, he allowed two in 39 innings. Brandon League (3-3) got the last out in the eighth and Kenley Jansen earned his fourth save. Ramirez kept up his torrid hitting of late. He is 11 for 22 with six runs, seven RBIs and two homers in his last six games. The game was a pitchers' duel until the ninth. Padres starter Andrew Cashner allowed one run in eight innings. He generated 18 outs on the ground with efficiency uncharacteristic of a strikeout pitcher. He fanned only two, but was rarely challenged by the Dodg...

Has Yasiel Puig moved further away from the plate in his batting setup?

The Yasiel Puig experience has been quite a ride for the Dodgers and their fans, and Mike Petriello already said part of what I wanted to say about the ups and downs of his debut thus far (primarily ups). However, I did want to focus on the part of the equation that focuses on his recent trend of striking out on soft stuff away. To be clear, any criticism of him at this point is...

Making Moves: Capuano returns, as does Herrera + 2013 draft signings

Chris Capuano was activated from the disabled list, with Alex Castellanos heading to AAA. The Dodgers activated Chris Capuano from the disabled list in between games on Wednesday’s doubleheader with the Yankees, as the left-hander will start Game 2. To make room, the Dodgers optioned Alex Castellanos to Triple-A Albuquerque. Some stability at the back of the rotation would be nice...

Mattingly not worried despite Kemp's rough rehab stint

LOS ANGELES Matt Kemps rehabilitation stint at the minor-league level hasnt exactly been impressive, but Dodgers manager Don Mattingly insists the team isnt concerned with his numbers. Despite poor results in his first two games Kemp is 1 for 8 with five strikeouts for the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes they dont want him to push his return from a strained right hamstring. Its...

Yasiel Puig Makes Diving Catch, Almost Collides With Andre Ethier (Video)

Yasiel Puig has been a mainstay in the media headlines since getting called up to join the Dodgers in LA — the kid can flat out do it all. The Cuban-phenom has dazzled with his rocket arm and clutch hitting — posting a .425 batting average with six homers and 12 RBI’s in 19 games — but also proved he can make plays with his glove on Sunday against the Padres. Padres shortstop...

Los Angeles Dodgers Earn The Split Behind Back-To-Back Homers

Chris Capuano has had a great week of pitching with two stellar performances within five days. Sunday’s start came on three days rest as he didn’t allow a run or a hit for the second straight outing to help the Los Angeles Dodgers grab a 3-1 win against the San Diego Padres behind two big homers from Adrian Gonzalez and Hanley Ramirez. For the second straight day Gonzalez and...

Postgame Wrap: I Am Become Puig, Destroyer of Worlds

Yasiel Puig is going to be a pain for a long, long time. A long time. An incredibly long time. He’s really good. He hits baseballs very hard. He’s also fast. Also he’s 22 years old, and will be a blue terror until 2018. This must be how other teams feel about Tim Lincecum or Brian Wilson or Buster Posey, when it’s just not fair that they get to have this player every day...

Dodgers 3, Giants 1

Rookie sensation Yasiel Puig hit his seventh home run in 20 major league games and added a tiebreaking single in the eighth inning against Madison Bumgarner, leading the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 3-1 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Monday night. Nick Punto, who replaced third baseman Juan Uribe in a double switch, led off the eighth with an opposite-field double down the...

Giants Fall to Puig, Dodgers

For the Giants, the recent script remained the same in Los Angeles. With another injury, and another low scoring loss, and Giants are officially at .500.  The culprit this game was the new Cuban wonder, Yasiel Puig, who recorded three hits including an opposite field home run in the first and the crucial RBI single in the bottom of the 8th leading the Dodgers to a 3-1 victory over...
