The Los Angeles Dodgers‬ have acquired minor league infielder Ozzie Martinez from the Chicago White Sox in exchange for cash considerations, tweets Dylan Hernandez.

Martinez, 24, is a five-foot-ten, 170 pound shortstop from Puerto Rico. He owns a batting average of .178, with 11 doubles, and 13 RBIs in 60 games this season with the Charlotte Knights, the White Sox Triple-A minor league affiliate. Martinez has appeared in the majors in each of the last two seasons, batting .258 in 34 combined games with the ‪Marlins‬ in 2010 and 2011.

Martinez was sent to the White Sox as part of the compensation for the Marlins signing of Ozzie Guillen. He won't provide much to the Dodgers other than organizational depth. Scoutingbook.com had this scouting report to offer up on the Puerto Rican native.

"Ozzie Martinez has already bounced around a few organizations without finding a long-term home. He's a plus fielder and a decent hitter, and he's clearly pretty darn MLB-ready, which means the only remaining question is whether a club will commit to him in more than a part-time utility role. It would be nice to see what he could do with 400 at-bats."

It will be interesting to see how Martinez does upon his arrival to Triple-A Albuquerque. Hey, it can't hurt anything to have an extra middle infielder around right? A plus infielder? A decent hitter? Heck, sounds like a replacement for Juan Uribe if you ask me.
