Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw pitched in and out of trouble, allowing two runs and six hits in six innings with two walks and two strikeouts. Jerry Hairston, who received anti-inflammatory medication on Saturday to help with lingering soreness in his right shoulder, had two hits for Los Angeles.

Ramirez: I'm going to go out and do my job

After 14 major league seasons, 315 career home runs and a lifetime of experience in the National League Central Division, it'd be easy for 33-year-old third baseman Aramis Ramirez to assume his new team should adjust to him instead of the other way around. But after signing a three-year, 36 million free-agent contract in December, the Milwaukee Brewers' most important offseason...

Brewers' Aoki looks like intriguing import

Norichika Aoki feels quite comfortable in the batter's box. The native of Hyuga City, Japan, proved as much Sunday, when he hammered a full-count, two-out offering from Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw over the fence for a homer. That round-tripper was part of a stretch in which Aoki produced 10 hits in 16 Cactus League at-bats with his new squad, the Brewers -- much to the delight...

Brewers and Marcum will wait for contract talks until after the season

Right handed pitcher Shaun Marcum will be a free agent at the end of the season and according to Adam McCalvy of MLB.com, the Brewers “have made no move to engage Marcum in discussions about an extension.” Brewers General Manager, Doug Melvin, said that they will probably “let him play the year out,” (via McCalvy) and I think this could be the best decision for them. Even...

Marcum sharp in delayed debut for Brewers

PHOENIX (AP) -- Shaun Marcum pitched three scoreless innings in his spring debut and a Milwaukee Brewers split squad beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 7-1 on Sunday. Norichika Aoki hit his first home run since joining Milwaukee from Japan's Central League this winter and Rickie Weeks added an RBI double for the Brewers. Marcum, who has been slowed by soreness in his right shoulder...

Milwaukee Locks Up Lucroy

The Brewers added another to their list of core players under long-term contracts, inking catcher Jonathan Lucroy to a four or five year deal Monday. Lucroy, who broke through to the majors in 2010 and was the starter from day one in 2011, will be covered through at least his arbitration seasons and possibly his first free agent year. Although Lucroy hit well for a catcher last season...

Braun had two RBIs, helps Brewers beat Indians 6-5

Ryan Braun drove in two runs, doubling his spring training total, and the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Cleveland Indians 6-5 Monday. Norichika Aoki broke a 5-all tie in the ninth with an RBI triple for the Brewers. Carlos Santana hit a two-run homer for Cleveland. Indians third baseman Jack Hannahan hit two doubles in his first at-bats since March 15. He had been out with a sore...

White Sox 6, Brewers 4

Alex Gonzalez and Aramis Ramirez each homered as Milwaukee built a four-run lead for Randy Wolf but the Chicago White Sox rallied for a 6-4 victory over the Brewers on Saturday. Tyler Saladino drove in a run with a triple in a two-run seventh inning and had an RBI single in the ninth. Chris Sale gave up eight hits, including the two home runs, and four runs - three earned. Tyler...

Weeks and wisdom

Prince Fielder and his 230 career home runs took up residence in Detroit over the offseason. Corey Hart turned 30 years old Saturday. Ryan Braun and Rickie Weeks have both been fixtures in Milwaukee's lineup for about five years now. The clock is ticking for the Brewers' remaining leaders. Weeks, for one, is acutely aware of this. Now, it sounds like Milwaukee's 29...

Lucroy Deal Solid Right Now With Bargain Potential Later

From Greinke to Marcum to Axford to Roenicke, there has been a lot of speculation about contract extensions this Spring, and it looks like the Brewers have their first deal done. Catcher Jonathan Lucroy was scratched from the lineup today, and word got out quickly that his representatives and the Brewers were close to a contract extension that would likely be announced by the end...

Sea Bass, Aoki Not Enough in 4-6 Loss

(Photo: AP) Randy Wolf had another solid start, but more trouble on defense and some less-than-airtight bullpen performances led to another Brewers loss, this time a 4-6 defeat by the White Sox. To the notes:-- Wolf went 5 2/3 innings, allowing three runs on six hits, a walk, and four strikeouts. Wolf was cruising (one hit, one walk, and four punchouts) through four innnings, but...

Scooter Gennett hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning to complete a cycle, leading a Milwaukee Brewers' split squad over the Kansas City Royals 7-3 Sunday. Gennett, who is in minor league camp and has never played above Class A, went 4-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs. He tripled and doubled in the first two innings off Felipe Paulino. After striking out in the fourth,...
