ESPN Insider has a report that the Dodgers have joined the race for outfielder Seth Smith. Smith, 29, is a .275/.348/.485 career hitter in five seasons for the Rockies. He's hit at least 15 dingers in each of the last three seasons, so he can certainly provide some pop off the bench, because as of now that's the only fit I can see the Dodgers using him for. Of course concern number one on my part is he has been playing in Coors Field which has been proven to show the advantage it gives to hitters over the years. Alright I know this rumor is a little odd, right? Typically you don't see rumors connected to a guy like Smith. This makes me wanna believe the rumor might have some validity. One thought could be the Dodgers are still trying to trade James Loney, then move Rivera over to first base, and then plant a platoon of sorts over in left field.
