NEW YORK (AP) -- Pinch-hitter Matt Treanor had a two-run single in a five-run 12th inning and the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the fading New York Mets 8-3 on Sunday to finish a three-game sweep. The Dodgers blew a 3-1 lead after the sixth but still won their fourth straight after losing seven of eight and dropping out of first place in the NL West. An overworked Mets bullpen held the Dodgers to one hit for four innings until Los Angeles broke it open in the 12th with contributions from several late-inning replacements. New York has lost nine of 10 to fall under .500 (47-48) for the first time this season.

I Really Hate Writing Recaps When The Mets Lose

MIGUEL BATISTA: The Little Engine That Couldn’t Another late Mets rally falls short… It’s becoming a common theme so far in the second half.
