There has yet to be an NHL Winter Classic game to be held in a warm weather city. Well, with the success of the Los Angeles Kings, the Los Angeles Dodgers wish to host the New Year’s Day event. According to the Los Angeles Times, the Dodgers are putting in their bid to the NHL. Dodgers’ president Stan Kasten says the team has the facility equipped for the event. Kasten knows quite a bit about hockey, as he is the former president of the Atlanta Thrashers. As Kasten says, the technology is there to keep ice playable in a warm outdoor facility.
Hey, why not? As the Dodgers’ chairman, Mark Walter, said, “They put a man on the moon…They can make it work.”
