P1_embree_gettyFor those of you who do not know, Alan Embree is currently on the Pawtucket Red Sox roster. The 40 year old has stated that this will be his last season and he would like to finish with Boston. The Red Sox have a April 15th deadline to either bring him up or he will be waived.

So what has he done to earn a spot in the pen?
In 3 appearances (2.1IP) with the Pawsox he has posted a 11.57 ERA, 2 hits, 3 ER, and 5 walks.  Those numbers are a little skewed as a result of last nights appearance.  Before his appearance last night, he pitched two innings, giving up only one hit and one walk. Last night, Embree started the ninth, walking 4, 1 hit, 1 K, and 3 earned runs.

“I felt like I was throwing the ball well. I just wasn’t getting the best results,” said Embree, who can trigger an opt-out clause in his contract this Thursday. “It was one of those things that I got my pitches in. If I missed, it wasn’t by much.”
Embree expects to pitch one more time before reaching a decision. “I feel strong and feel like I’m throwing good pitches and we’ll go from there.”

I have news for you Alan, it didn't look like you were throwing the ball well.  Embree bounced a change up fifteen feet in front of the mound that eventually made it to the plate.  His next appearance may be the final outing he makes in the Red Sox system.

LIVE UPDATE FROM MCCOY:

Boof Bonser makes his second rehab start with Pawtucket and it was AWFUL! Bonser went 2 innings ( 5 H, 9 ER, 3 BB) throwing 50 pitches, 25 for strikes.

Boof, I don't think you are ready yet!
