Dollar bills began raining down from the upper deck of Safeco Field during the seventh inning of Sunday's Seattle Mariners game. Some fans themselves a few dollars richer, while television broadcasters expressed their disappointment that none of the bills flew into the broadcast booth.
The bills were apparently part of a promotional campaign for 5KTailgate.com, which takes place in the Seattle area on September 14th.

Twice is always nice
So, it’s been a few weeks since my last installment of My oh My! and I apologize for that. I packed, moved, went on vacation and then unpacked. It’s been a hectic month actually.
But enough about me, let’s talk some Mariners baseball!
Today’s play of the week comes from this afternoon’s matchup against Minnesota. Nick Franklin went yard twice as the...
What? Trade Ackley?
To sell, or not to sell, that is the question upon Jack Z’s desk.
In the interest of self preservation I’ll grant you that Mariners GM, Jack Zduriencik, may not sell off any of his soon to be free agents or failed younger players. It’s entirely possible he’ll push through and try to scrape a .500 season out of this club to save his own and Manager Eric...
Yesterday the Seattle Mariners announced that Michael Morse, the power-hitting slugger who opened the season with impressive numbers, had completed his rehab stint at AAA Tacoma and would be rejoining the team in Boston.
Today’s afternoon contest will mark the first time since June 22 that Morse has been with the squad, as he had previously strained his right...
Former Pirates, Red Sox and Mets outfielder Jason Bay has been designated for assignment by the Seattle Mariners.
The move was announced Monday, with the Mariners calling up outfielder Michael Morse from his rehab assignment at Triple-A Tacoma. Seattle made the moves before beginning a six-game road trip to Boston and Baltimore.
Over the course of his 11-year career, Bay owns a ...
Texas Rangers’ General Manager Jon Daniels has never been known to sit by idly when it comes to improving his team. In recent years Daniels has shown the tendency to look into players that for one reason or another fit into the mold of a “low risk high reward” type. Players that usually fall into this classification are either attempting to make a return from major injury...
The city of Seattle is known for being rainy. On Sunday at Safeco Field, however, it was a different kind of rain falling from the sky.
During the seventh inning of Sunday's game between the Seattle Mariners and Minnesota Twins, dollar bills rained from the sky. Broadcasters from both teams observed in bewilderment, trying to determine where the money was falling from. Meanwhile...
The Seattle Mariners have not been a very good team in recent years, finishing with a winning record just twice in the past nine seasons and not since 2009.
Boston has been part of the Mariners’ poor results, winning the season series three straight years and four of the past five seasons. The Sox will be around -150 favorites to win this week’s three-game set at Fenway Park...
Yes, you read that right. Someone took a swing at the Seattle Mariners mascot, the Mariner Moose.
It's hard to believe anyone would seriously try to punch a mascot in the nose, yet that's exactly what happened over the weekend at Public Safety Day at Boeing Headquarters in Seattle.
According to KOMO-TV, a Boeing employee approached the Moose...
Miami Marlins hitting coach Tino Martinez resigned on Sunday amid reports that he had abused players physically and verbally.
According to FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal, Martinez called out players for not picking up balls they hit in the batting cage. Picking up balls in the cage is standard practice according to the 45-year-old Martinez.
After seeing players repeatedly refuse to...
Nick Franklin homered twice, including a three-run shot, and Endy Chavez robbed Chris Colabello of a second two-run homer Sunday to help the Seattle Mariners hold off the Minnesota Twins 6-4.
Franklin and Michael Saunders both went deep during a pivotal four-run fourth inning. With the Mariners down 2-1, Saunders tied it with his seventh homer to open the inning, deep into the right...
Highlighting the best and worst of the past seven days in the minor leagues for the Seattle Mariners.
Coming off their most frustrating loss of the year to the Tampa Bay Rays, the Boston Red Sox look to turn the table with a three game set beginning tonight with the Seattle Mariners. This series against Seattle starts a stretch of 22 games in a row against teams with mediocre records, which could be a good for the Red Sox to try to move up the AL East and leap the Tampa Bay Rays...
