The Atlanta Braves were active yesterday on the trade front. They just didn’t get one of the outfielders that they had been rumored to have talked with the New York Mets and St. Louis Cardinals about. The Braves made a trade with the Milwaukee Brewers for catcher, Will Nieves, for “cash.” It sounds so much better than the reality.

Will Nieves was acquired from the Brewers for $1.00. $1.00!!! The Braves are on tap to pay the remainder of his salary, in the $130 K range. Still, $1.00?

Nieves will report to AAA Gwinnett for the Braves and serve as depth for the team with All Star, Brian McCann on the DL with a strained oblique and David Ross thrust into the starting lineup. JC Boscan was called up to be the back-up.
