L.J. Hoes landed in town Thursday evening hoping to finally visit Hollywood. Matt Dominguez a Southern California native didn’t even consider any tourist stops. This area is home after all. Hoes checked his schedule and ultimately decided it would be best to settle in close to Angel Stadium. Then he and Dominguez made themselves at home with several career highlights against the lowly Angels. Hoes set the tone Sunday afternoon with his first career home run and then scored when Dominguez hit a decisive three-run homer in the seventh inning to beat the Angels 7-5. “I got the whole offseason to go to Hollywood if I want to” Hoes said. “This is way better. This is my dream. This is what I’ve grown up wanting to do. To be able to play in the major leagues and be a little bit successful right now is great. Two nights after setting his career high with three hits Hoes had another three-hit game to help the Astros win the series 2-1 before a crowd of 36896. Dominguez also matched his career high for hits while going 4-for-5 with a three-run home run. The Astros are now 4-2 heading into the final stop of their nine-game trip through Oakland Anaheim and Arlington. They won consecutive series for the first time since June 14-20 when they won three of four from the White Sox and two of three from the Brewers. The Astros are now 9-7 against the Angels this year including 7-3 at Angel Stadium. “We play well against them” Dominguez said. “I don’t know exactly what it is. We’ve played well against a lot of teams and we’ve come up short by a run or two. It’s like we like playing in a L.A. or something. I don’t know why but we play them tough.” Lefthander Brett Oberholzer (3-1) earned the victory after holding the Angels to three runs on seven hits with one walk and four strikeouts over six innings. Jordan Lyles who had been scheduled to start the series opener Monday against the Rangers threw 2 1/3 innings of relief.
