I can't lie. During the morning of speculation before the release of the Mitchell report, there were links to Albert Pujols. And I wasn't surprised. Albert has never had a hiccup during his career. No slumps, just constant production. Acne, bald at 25, gigantic frame, there were some steroidy signs there. Then his trainer, Chris Mihlfeld (who was featured in a Sports Illustrated article along with Pujols), was linked to HGH. The truth is, Pujols was not named in the Mitchell report. But during the speculation, St. Louis Fox Affiliate, KVTI, took the Pujols leak and ran with it. Pujols is pissed. Yesterday, he led his first news conference of the year. When a camera man and reporter from KVTI showed up, Pujols had them removed. He has long been a lightening rod for controversy, and he addressed that fact, "I remember from 2001, "Oh, he's not 21," Pujols said.
