              Many know of Bobby Brown as a former MLB player who got his doctorate in cardiology as well as serving a term as American League President long after his baseball career. Bobby, of course, was a member of the second (or third if you consider 1923, 1927, 1928 and 1932 one) major dynasty of the New York Yankees.     Brown, who had ended his playing career after the 1954 season, had embarked on a successful medical career. On this date in 1983, he was elected American League President by the American League owners. Brown just celebrated his 88th birthday this past October. He was AL President from 1984-1994 and performed heart surgery for more than 30 years.      This post-playing career success overshadows Brown’s success as a player. Though he was not a regular player during his career which spanded from 1946-1954, he was heavily depended on during the Yankees World Series run.
