It's been a rough year for the Diamondbacks. They haven't been above .500 since May 4th, when they were 14-13. After last night's win over the Mariners, Arizona is 33-34, and looking to get to that .500 plateau again. They got  to one game of .500 last night in style. Second baseman Aaron Hill, acquired from the Blue Jays along with John McDonald for Kelly Johnson last summer, hit for the cycle and scored three times. Hill has an .827 OPS on the season now, and is pretty much hitting like his old self in Toronto. The D-Backs also got a great start from rookie Wade Miley, who allowed one run over seven innings, allowing nine hits and striking out eight without a walk. Now, if only the rest of the team would start hitting and pitching...

Game of the Night: Brewers 7, Blue Jays 6. Another Brewers game? Yeah, they're playing some exciting baseball this year, even if they're having a crappy year. Brett Lawrie put the Jays on the board in the first with a leadoff homer. The Brewers proceeded to go off over the next two innings, putting six runs on the board to take a 6-1 lead. Toronto fought back though, scoring one in the third on a double play and one in the sixth on an Edwin Encarnacion solo homer. That brought up to the seventh, when Jose Bautista hit a monstrous three-run homer to tie the game at six. That tie game lasted...until the bottom of the seventh, as an Aramis Ramirez solo homer made it a 7-6 Brewers lead. Francisco Rodriguez and John Axford closed out the final two innings, and the Brewers got the win.

Pitching Lines of the Night: This conversation begins and ends in New York. RA Dickey threw ANOTHER complete game shutout, giving up one hits (AGAIN), walking two, and striking out 13 in the Mets' 5-0 win over the Orioles. His last month or so has been totally absurd. Across the city, CC Sabathia threw a complete game against the Braves in their 6-2 win, allowing seven hits and two runs, walking one and striking out ten. Just another night in the city...

Hitting Lines of the Night: Obviously, Hill's great line stands out from the bunch. In Cleveland's 10-9 win over the Reds, Lonnie Chisenhall went 3/4 with two runs, three RBI, a triple, and a homer. In the aforementioned Brewers-Blue Jays game, Aramis Ramirez went 3/3 with a walk, a double, and what would prove to be the game-winning homer. Astros utility infielder Brian Bixler had a great game in Houston's 9-7 win over the Royals, going 3/5 with two runs, three RBI, a double, and a homer.

Spotlight Series: New writeup is coming today.

Other Games: The Cubs hit five homers in a 12-3 rout of the White Sox. The Giants beat the Angels 5-3, as Matt Cain struggled (but still won) after his perfect game last week. The Rangers edged the Padres 2-1 in a game that saw no runs scored after the first inning.

Today's Games: Cole Hamels starts for the Phillies as they host the Rockies. David Price will start in Washington against Chien-Ming Wang. The matchup of the day is in Detroit, with Lance Lynn of the Cardinals taking on Justin Verlander. Tim Hudson and Hiroki Kuroda will go at it in New York. Johan Santana starts at Citi Field against the Orioles. Mark Buerhle will take on Clay Buchholz in Boston. Jake Peavy starts for the White Sox as they host the Cubs. Tyler Thornburg of the Brewers will make his major league debut against Jesse Chavez of the Blue Jays. CJ Wilson starts for the Angels against the Giants. Brandon McCarthy starts for the A's against the Dodgers.

Enjoy your day of baseball, everyone.
