There was a pretty crazy brawl during the Diamondbacks-Dodgers game last night. The issues erupted in the sixth inning, after Ian Kennedy hit Yasiel Puig in the face. Zack Greinke retaliated by hitting Miguel Montero, and that should have been that after the benches cleared. But in the bottom of the seventh, Kennedy threw at Greinke's head, and all hell broke loose. Puig, Kennedy, Mark McGwire, Turner Ward, and Kirk Gibson were all ejected during the mess. After all that, the Dodgers ended up winning 5-3. PIC OF THE DAY Yasiel Puig walks away from the brawl in Los Angeles. (Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports) Game of the Night: Blue Jays 7, White Sox 5 (ten innings). A three-run homer by Conor Gillaspie in the fourth inning gave Chicago a 5-2 lead against Chien-Ming Wang, but the Blue Jays battled back. Edwin Encarnacion hit a two-run homer in the fifth to make it a one run game, and it stayed that way until the ninth, when Jose Bautista tied the game with a solo homer off of Addison Reed to tie the game. In the tenth, Rajai Davis scored on a wild pitch, and Munenori Kawasaki doubled in Maicier Izturis to give Toronto more of a cushion. Casey Janssen put two men on in the bottom of the inning, but got Adam Dunn to ground out to end the game. Pitching Lines of the Night: Aaron Harang threw a complete game shutout for the Mariners in their 4-0 win over the Astros, allowing two hits and striking out ten without a walk. Miguel Gonzalez pitched well for the Orioles in their 3-2 win over the Angels, allowing one run on four hits in eight innings, striking out five and walking one and gaining a measure of revenge for Peter Bourjos' awesome catch. In that Dodgers-DBacks game, Greinke ended up allowing two runs on two hits in seven innings, walking two and striking out five. Max Scherzer pitched well for the Tigers in their 3-2 win in Kansas City, allowing two runs on three hits in seven innings, striking out six and walking two.  Hitting Lines of the Night: Desmond Jennings powered the Rays to an 8-3 win over the Red Sox, going 3/5 with three runs and two homers. Tyler Colvin helped the Rockies smash the Nationals 8-3, going 2/4 with two homers and four RBI. The Pirates beat down the Giants 8-2 in Gerrit Cole's successful MLB debut, going 3/3 with two runs, three RBI, and a homer. The A's beat the Yankees 6-4, and Derek Norris went 2/3 with a double, a homer, and four RBI. Zack Cozart and Xavier Paul powered the Reds to a 12-2 romp over the Cubs, as Cozart went 2/5 with a homer and four RBI, and Paul went 2/4 with a double, a homer, and three RBI. Other Games: The Indians finally got on the winning track, beating the Rangers 5-2. The Cardinals smashed the Mets 9-2, giving Michael Wacha his first career win. The Marlins edged the Brewers 5-4 thanks to an eighth inning homer by the returning Giancarlo Stanton. The Twins beat the Phillies 3-2. The Padres slipped by the Braves 3-2, and look to finish the sweep today. What You Missed: The Mariners called up Mike Zunino, and are already panicking. Gerrit Cole's debut last night came against his girlfriend's brother. Garrett explored the possibility of the Dodgers trading Andre Ethier, while Ian examined the Braves potentially trading starting pitching. Ian Stewart trashed the Cubs on Twitter, and earned himself a suspension. Today's Games: Justin Verlander takes on James Shields in Kansas City. Mike Leake and Travis Wood will duel in an underrated great pitching matchup. Francisco Liriano and the Pirates host the Giants. Shelby Miller starts for the Cardinals in New York. Chris Sale and the White Sox host the Blue Jays. Pat Corbin and the Diamondbacks take on Hyun-Jin Ryu and the Dodgers. National TV: Reds-Cubs (2 PM, MLB Network), Tigers-Royals (2 PM, MLB Network), Indians-Rangers (8 PM, ESPN) Enjoy your day of baseball, everyone. [follow]
