The worst thing that can happen to a team is losing your best player to injury. But what could possibly be *worse* than that mess? Well, take a look at Denver yesterday, where the Rockies fell to the Nationals 5-4 due in part to a pair of balks by Wilton Lopez. Troy Tulowitzki broke a rib in the eighth inning, and will be placed on the DL. Carlos Gonzalez was hit in the ankle by a foul ball while on deck, and left the game. Dexter Fowler was hit in the hand by a pitch and is day to day after x-rays were negative. Losing one player is rough, but losing your three best players is just not fair. PIC OF THE DAY Brandon Moss of the A's levels Yankees catcher Chris Stewart at the plate.  (Ed Szczepanski-USA TODAY Sports) Game of the Night: Blue Jays 3, Rangers 1. The two teams each scored an early run before zeroes took over the scoreboard, thanks to the stellar pitching of Yu Darvish (not surprising) and Esmil Rogers (very surprising). Toronto finally broke through in the eighth after Emilio Bonifacio reached on an error by Adrian Beltre, and scored (along with Jose Bautista, who walked) on a double by Edwin Encarnacion. Rogers ceded to the bullpen, and Steve Delabar and Casey Janssen shut the door to give the Blue Jays a hard-fought win. Pitching Lines of the Night: The full line for Yu Darvish saw him allow one run on three hits in seven innings, walking two and striking out nine. Adam Wainwright dominated the Mets in a 2-1 Cardinals win, giving up four hits in seven shutout frames, striking out six and walking two. Hiroki Kuroda pitched well for the Yankees in their 3-2, 18 inning loss to the A's, allowing two runs on two hits in eight innings, walking two and striking out three. Matt Cain dominated the Pirates in a 10-0 Giants win, giving up just two hits in 6 2/3 innings, striking out three and walking a pair. Finally, Ervin Santana ran roughshod over the Rays in a 10-1 Royals win, allowing just one unearned run on five hits in 7 2/3 innings, striking out three without a walk. Hitting Lines of the Night: In that marathon Yankees loss in Oakland, Robinson Cano went 3/6 with a two doubles, a homer, two RBI, and two walks. Former Ray Eliot Johnson gave his former team fits, going 3/4 with two runs, three RBI, and a homer. Ryan Zimmerman powered the Nationals to their win in Colorado, going 2/4 with a double, a homer, two runs, and three RBI. Ben Revere helped the Phillies to a 3-2 win in his former home of Minnesota, going 4/6 with a triple, two runs, and a stolen base. Nate Schierholtz did well for the Cubs in their 6-5, 14 inning win over the Reds, going 2/5 with three runs, two walks, and a pair of triples. Other Games: What You Missed: The Mets wanted to partner with Cougar Life to get David Wright All-Star votes. Garrett explored Brandon League's demotion in Los Angeles. Ian smashed the Tigers for continually handing the ball to Jose Valverde. Today's Games: Madison Bumgarner takes on Kris Medlen in Atlanta. Gio Gonzalez and Justin Masterson will duel in Cleveland. Matt Moore and the Rays host the Royals. Kyle Lohse leads the Brewers into Cincinnati against Bronson Arroyo and the Reds. Jake Westbrook returns for the Cardinals to take on Jose Fernandez and the Marlins. Chris Sale starts for the White Sox in Houston. Kyle Kendrick takes the hill for the Phillies in Denver against the Rockies. Andy Pettitte and CJ Wilson will battle in Anaheim.  National TV: Brewers-Reds (7 PM, MLB Network), Giants-Braves (7:30, MLB Network) Enjoy your day of baseball, everyone. [follow]
