Wow. Didn't see that one coming: Nationals sign Edwin Jackson to 1-year deal.
"We saw an opportunity here to acquire a young, hard-throwing, power-pitching, innings-eating-type of starting pitcher, and we thought it was a good value at a good term. You can never have enough good, quality starting pitching, and we felt it was a good enough value to make him a National." (Mike Rizzo, via Nats Insider, 2/2/2012)
So Scott Boras offered a consolation prize to Ted Lerner for toying with him during the Prince Fielder negotiations?
Regardless, a rotation of: 1. Stras 2. Gio; 3. Zimmermann; 4. Jackson; 5/6 Wang? Detwiler? Lannan? That's a damn fine rotation.
Bring on the Phillies.
