Well, this news sort of seems like it came out of nowhere. Charlie Morton had surgery on Monday to repair a torn labrum in his left hip.
The surgery was successful, but the expected recovery time is six months – which would put Morton out for Opening Day and early April. Morton’s agent, however, is more optimistic and seems to think that Charlie will be ready to go in about four months. I’m no doctor, so I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
It certainly isn’t good to hear that Charlie needed surgery, but this doesn’t sound terribly concerning and it looks like he’ll be back for 2012, possibly missing a start or two to begin the year. Get well, Chuck.
