If Fernando Martinez is claimed off waivers, can the Mets pull him back? If so, will he still count against the 40-man roster?
The best I can tell, Martinez was put on irrevocable waivers, which means he is gone if he gets claimed. The Mets cannot pull him back. Therefore, the 40-man Roster part of the question is irrelevant.
In an update to Twitter, ESPN’s Jayson Stark quoted one scout as saying, “I guarantee a minimum of 5 teams put in a claim on him.”
