It's all a matter of balance for Cubs catcher Geovany Soto.
He's working on better balance in his diet, which should help Soto keep off the 25 pounds he dropped this offseason. He's also been working on improving his balance at the plate, and spent the winter focused on his footwork on the advice of hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo.

The blog "Dodger Sims" ran a bunch of simulations using a variety of player projection forecasts. And what's the prediction for 2012? Pain!
to the tune of low to mid 70's win totals.
Baseball Prospectus and their PECOTA projections came up with something in the vicinity of 74-76 wins I believe and 4th place as well. We can probably argue over a win or two...

As disappointing as the 2011 Cubs were, few players had more of a disappointing season than Ryan Dempster. The team’s Opening Day starter, Dempster had a miserable season, statistically, on his way to a 10-14 record.
But as poor as his stats might look, they could have been a lot worse. Dempster got off to a very rocky start in April, sporting a 9.58 ERA in six April starts...

Chicago Cubs right-hander Ricardo Estevez and free agent left-hander Jorge Navarrete have both been suspended for 50 games under baseball's minor league drug program.
Estevez tested positive for metabolites of Stanozolol and Nandrolone, the commissioner's office said Friday. He is on the roster of the Dominican Summer League Cubs.
