It's all a matter of balance for Cubs catcher Geovany Soto.
He's working on better balance in his diet, which should help Soto keep off the 25 pounds he dropped this offseason. He's also been working on improving his balance at the plate, and spent the winter focused on his footwork on the advice of hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo.

Get Excited for Your 70 Win Cubs
The blog "Dodger Sims" ran a bunch of simulations using a variety of player projection forecasts. And what's the prediction for 2012? Pain!
to the tune of low to mid 70's win totals.
Baseball Prospectus and their PECOTA projections came up with something in the vicinity of 74-76 wins I believe and 4th place as well. We can probably argue over a win or two...
Ryan Dempster Should Bounce Back In 2012
As disappointing as the 2011 Cubs were, few players had more of a disappointing season than Ryan Dempster. The team’s Opening Day starter, Dempster had a miserable season, statistically, on his way to a 10-14 record.
But as poor as his stats might look, they could have been a lot worse. Dempster got off to a very rocky start in April, sporting a 9.58 ERA in six April starts...

(This of course inspired by Rob's headline yesterday)
So, I don't know jack, do you?
The other day somebody said that Jorge Soler was gonna sign a contract with the Cubs, he just couldn't find his pen.
Now it's all kindsa teams trying to get close to Soler, apparently.
The Cubs, represented in the chart as the USS Enterprise, still seem to be the closest.
But the...

The Chicago Cubs are about to start playing BASEBALL … kind of
Kim and David DeJesus
One day. One day away. It is such a good feeling. And after a week of done deals, not so done deals, possible federal regulations violations and a way-to-healthy dose of speculation, it is almost time to throw the ball and catch the ball and hit the ball, and for Tony Campana, run around the bases … fast.
So, let’s celebrate the beginning of the Spring...
Dan Vogelbach: The future for the Chicago Cubs at First Base?
The Chicago Cubs could have a red hot prospect in the minor league ranks this season, finding a new big bat on the first bag of the diamond. Eric Zuspann has been covering local high school sports in the Southwest Florida region, but he was able this week to secure an interview with Dan Vogelbach, drafted by the Chicago Cubs in last season’s MLB draft.
Zuspann rolled out a...
Campana seeks fast start to first camp
You thought outfielder Tony Campana was fast last year? Now, he's faster. He's also stronger and well aware of what he needs to do to make the Cubs' Opening Day roster.
Garza feels late in reporting to camp early
Matt Garza arrived in Arizona at least two weeks before pitchers and catchers have to report for Spring Training, and the Cubs pitcher said he felt he was late.
