Due to whats being described as shoulder weakness Kelvim Escobar is two weeks behind the rest of the pitchers. Escobar, himself still holds out hope that if his shoulder comes around he can catch up, he believes as a reliever it will take him less time to get ready. However, Jerry Manuel doesn't believe he will be ready for opening day. The Mets have options they can increase their pursuit of Joe Beimel or Kiki Calero, move Nieve to the pen or hope Igarashi is capable of handling the role..."There is a lot of hope," Escobar said. "Because I don't have to prepare myself as a starter and reliever is a lot different to prepare for."source NY Post
