It's Always Sunny in Detroit:
Braves’ outfielder/monster Evan Gattis took an offering from Jose Fernandez and banged it into the night at Marlins Park. Mikey Marlinsfan was camped under the ball in enough time to signal for a fair catch. However, he didn’t signal for one and he badly muffed the punt. As the ball is traveling over the wall, keep your eyes in the middle of the GIF. Fans often bring their glove to games. Mikey Marlinsfan was not one of those. Instead of a glove, hopefully he wore his cup. via @corkgaines [@CorkGaines]
BEST OF MAXIM
For a team that’s had to reinvent itself time and time again this season the Braves’ offense has found recent solace in the capable — and bare — hands of Evan Gattis.
The difference in the first two games of the series against the Marlins and the better part of the time since he returned from Triple-A Gwinnett is the Braves put runners on base for him.
Gattis revved up...
Jose Fernandez is the Miami Marlins outstanding 21-year-old phenom. Tonight was his last game of the year, as the team plans to shut him down for the remainder of the year. The organization encouraged fans to show up to his final time on the mound, but they received a special treat when he hit his first home run of his career of Atlanta Braves starter Mike Minor. The special moment...
Why was Miami rookie Jose Fernandez embarrassed?
Fernandez just concluded a phenomenal rookie season, beating the Atlanta Braves 5-2 with seven innings of five-hit, one-run ball in Miami on Wednesday night.
But Fernandez said he was embarrassed?
Wait. It gets better.
The 21-year-old Fernandez (12-6, 2.19 ERA), one of the top candidates for the NL Rookie of the Year award, not...
Jose Fernandez has thrown his last pitch for the Miami Marlins in 2013.
Let the discussions, begin.
Is Fernandez the National League Rookie of the Year? Did he produce the best rookie season by a pitcher in history? How good can the kid with the golden arm be?
NL Rookie of the Year looks to be a two-person race: Fernandez and fellow Cuban, Yasiel Puig. The Los Angeles Dodgers...
While the Atlanta Braves inched closer to clinching a division title, they watched one of their stars exits a game once again with an injury. Justin Upton fouled a ball off his right knee in last night's matchup with the Marlins. Upton remained in the game to draw a walk in the same at-bat, but after jogging to first base, he was lifted.
According to Mark Bowman of MLB...
The game meant little in the standings. Yet as the NL East-leading Atlanta Braves faced the team with the league's worst record, they found themselves in a bench-clearing standoff.
''It was crazy, huh?'' third baseman Chris Johnson said. ''Tempers were high.''
Rookie Jose Fernandez aggravated the Braves with his demonstrative behavior while pitching...
Braves left-hander Paul Maholm returned to Atlanta to undergo an MRI exam Wednesday after he complained of lingering soreness in his pitching elbow.
Maholm's elbow began to bother him during a start Sept. 2, manager Fredi Gonzalez said. Maholm went five innings and beat the New York Mets in that game, then pitched six innings Sunday and received no decision in a loss to the...
Still recovering from the fireworks of Jose Fernandez's final start last night, the Miami Marlins announced that starter Nathan Eovaldi has been scratched from tonight's starting assignment against the Atlanta Braves with a tight back.
As first reported by Joe Frisaro of MLB.com, Eovaldi's back issues became a topic of discussion prior to Wednesday game after the right...
Julio Teheran, working on 10 days' rest, overcame a rough first inning and pitched into the seventh to help the Atlanta Braves beat the Miami Marlins 4-3 on Tuesday night.
Teheran (12-7) gave up three runs in the first, then none after that, and he left with a 4-3 lead. Luis Ayala came on to strike out Giancarlo Stanton with the bases loaded to end the seventh, and Craig Kimbrel...

There are a few rules you should follow as a MLB rookie. Don't say no when someone tells you to carry their luggage. Don't be late to team meetings. Don't forget your cliches during your interviews.
Oh yeah...don't stand and admire your first major league home run, especially if you are a pitcher.
Unfortunately, Miami Marlins rookie pitcher Jose Fernandez chose...
It isn’t often you can say this, but the best show in baseball Wednesday took place in Miami. Though it was a game between the going-nowhere hosts and the certainly-going-somewhere Braves, the hosts had Jose Fernandez on the mound, and before the Marlins equivalent of a full house, Fernandez did everything in what would be […]
Jose Fernandez is approaching the 170-inning limit set by the
Miami Marlins, and he will make his final start Wednesday against
I’ve been pretty busy. I wonder what Andrelton Simmons has been up to of late? Most of my attention is dedicated to the actual races. Let’s go ahead and take a quick peek over at Simmons’ MLB.com video highlight page. What’s the most recent clip look like? Cool, it’s from just a couple days ago. […]
